The best thing about this movie are the visuals. What the movie lacks is the story. Although it's a movie for children, for me the story and many scenes/aspects seemed to be kind of forced - sometimes I felt that scenes were done just to kind of mimick other popular movies.
The fact that Jett is told so many times not to use "super/maximum speed" felt weird and made me think that he is definitely going to use it. Also that Jett was told not to join the other robot jets to find the villain was odd. The villain is also kind of just randomly a maniac, which also feels too forced. There were supporting villains, but their story and interaction with the main villain was almost nonexistent.
Some details were also strange: road signs in Chinese in Paris or cars with EU/French plates in New York.
That said, the main message of the movie feels like it is friendship, courage, kindness and positivity, which is commendable.
