American Horror Stories- Daphne: Uninspired and recycled
Plot
An artificial intelligent smart device grows attached to her user.
Cast
Outside of Gwyneth Paltrow doing the voice of Daphne I'm unfamiliar with anyone involved.
Verdict
Within moments of the episode starting I began having deja-vu, I've seen this before I thought! In fact, I've seen it done several times across the Twilight Zone, the Outer Limits and two separate movies!
The story plays out exactly as you'd expect and though it looks polished it's still unoriginal and somewhat predictable. And then the finale hits and it's in a different direction than I expected but not in a good way. The finale is one of the over used "Cop-out" types and took an already bland episode and guaranteed it could be nothing more.
Rants
You know the most frustrating thing about this episode? The use of AR. I won't say anything more as I don't do spoilers but anyone who knows what AR is and what it's capable will understand exactly what I'm referring to. It's a fantastic example of writers thinking the viewer is stupid.
The Good
Constructed well enough
The Bad
Paltrow brings nothing to the table Recycled plot Cop-Out finale.
