A few days after an NFL draft that featured a run on first-round quarterbacks, CBS is making some Qb changes at its long-running NFL Today studio show.
Matt Ryan, a former league Mvp who was a game analyst for the network last year, will move to the pregame desk for the 2024 season, joining James Brown, Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher and JJ Watt. Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason are leaving the show.
“Matt had an outstanding first year at CBS Sports, excelling as both a studio and game analyst,” CBS Sports president and CEO David Berson said in a statement. “He is the consummate team player and a Hall of Fame person. We love the chemistry he has with the studio crew, and we’re excited to see him entertain NFL fans and share his passion, insight and perspective alongside Jb, Nate, Coach and JJ.”

There's striking while the iron is hot, and then there's striking while the iron is much closer to room temperature. "Escape Plan," director Mikael Håfström's 2013 action film pairing Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger together for a long-awaited team-up, is the latter. By the time the duo combined their powers to play a prison security expert (Stallone) who is wrongly incarcerated (I sincerely hope writers Miles Chapman and Arnell Jesko patted themselves on the back for coming up with such a brazenly obvious dramatic irony) and has to break out of an illicit maximum-security prison with the help of a fellow inmate (Schwarzenegger), their glory days anchoring '80s and '90s macho-fests were long behind them.

Paramount Pictures has picked up Ok, Boomer, a spec script by Eben Davidson.
Adam Goodman, the onetime president of Paramount, will produce via his Invisible Narratives banner along with Trevor Engelson of Underground. Davidson will also produce.
Boomer serves as a full circle moment for Davidson and Goodman. Davidson was a longtime Paramount executive who acted in several roles, including senior vp of acquisitions and production, in which he oversaw movies like Arrival and Katy Perry: Part of Me. It was in that time that he first worked with Goodman, who was president of the motion picture group.
After a stint in television, he rejoined Goodman at Invisible Narratives as head of creative. He was also a producer, along with Goodman and Michael Bay, on the 2020 pandemic lockdown movie Songbird. Davidson began developing Boomer while at Invisible Narratives.
Now, Boomer brings both Davidson and Goodman back to Paramount.
