Chappy learned nothing. He humored Ramsay.

After all the trouble Gordon went through, re-designing their restaurant, bringing in a professional chef to help them, and giving them new dishes the customers raved about, as soon as Ramsay left, Chappy did exactly what you and I knew he was going to do while watching the episode: ignore and revert.

Chappy's was closed by the state for failure to pay taxes a month later, yet after the episode aired Chapman ("Chappy") claimed it was how Gordon made him and restaurant look in the episode; as if Gordon made Chappy not pay his state taxes; as if Gordon was the one who made Chappy revert back to his bad food that was driving away customers; as if it was Gordon who drove the professional chef away. Once again, as Gordon said, Chappy was deflecting. The reality is no one is to blame but Chapman.

Chappy moved, opened another restaurant. It closed. He moved back to New Orleans and tried to open another restaurant. It didn't material.

Finally a friend of his hired him as a chef at the Almanett Hotel and now he runs Chappy's Bistro.

Chef Ramsay didn't make Chapman not pay his state taxes. Chef Ramsay didn't move with him to Gulfport and open another restaurant which closed in a year's period. Chef Ramsay didn't have anything to do with the business that never got off the ground. And finally, Chef Ramsay never had anything to do with the poor food Chappy refuses to let go of. He can try to blame Gordon Ramsay all he wants for the portrayal in the episode but in reality, that episode was an accurate reflection of the problems, problems that continued to plague him after Ramsay was gone.

It's such a shame, too, 'cause Chappy seemed like he could be a nice guy and despite what Gordon said, I think that big friggin' hat looked entertaining of Chapman.

I hope he succeeds, but only time will tell. The reviews aren't very numerous and are too mixed at this point to get a good feel. One things for certain: it took moving home and being hired by a friend and ex patron of the old Chappy's restaurant, to have gainful employment as a chef. Does Chapman see that? Who knows. If a chef can't make it anywhere else but his home town, that should tell the chef something. You're either an employed chef at a friend's hotel, regardless of success, or you're the boss chef at your own independent restaurant; one has you going places, the other has you going places for somebody else. It's life's way of telling you that you did not listen.
