THE EPISODE THAT FELT MORE LIKE SEASONS 1-3
SlummyT25 September 2023
This episode for me was a return to form, the style in which all the scenes played out was perfectly alined.

This season I was hoping for nothing more then more exploration with Adam and his father (Mr grouff) hopefully that continues through the last couple of episodes.

Until now I have felt this season to be and as much as I hate to say it more outlandish, that is not to say that is anything to do with the characters introduced but more the setting of cavendish college. The college seems to be run by mostly students and I would be had pressed to admit I enjoyed the teaching characters of seasons 1-3

With rather a lot riding on this last season, as it is the last, I hope the series comes to a more realistic conclusion for our characters. If it does I will be more then happy to admit I was wrong....

This is my first review I thought it was a good idea to start it with something I am really enjoying.

Sex Education at its best - both the drama and the comedy

Warning: Spoilers
Great episode! The chaotic cremation was in true Erin-style. It showed both Maeve's ambiguity and Sean's bitterness brilliantly. Both their feelings are very understandable and valid. It was sad Maeve and Sean didn't get to reconcile, but also felt realistic. Otis and Eric finally started talking about the things that bothered them, but sadly enough, weren't in the right mindset to listen to each other. It was nice that Aimee got everyone together for the funeral - she's amazing! I'm also a sucker for the episodes where they all get together and connect with one another the way they did.

On a side note: great to have the teachers back, even if it's just for one episode! The moment between Maeve and Emily was very sweet and Colin's rendition of "With or Without You'' was amazing - and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even like U2. The choice for this song was also nice. Even if it's about something completely different, I can see how it's fitting to describe the relationship with an addicted parent.

The best so far in a disappointint season

Warning: Spoilers
Up to this point, this episode is the standout in a season that has veered off course. It deepens old characters who are much better developed. It also finally focus on Otis and Maeve's relationship. The way the editing was done, it's clear to me that Otis's problem isn't just his excessive honesty but his struggle to accept that he also has feelings for Ruby. When the writers include the memory of Otis entering his mother's room as a child in the middle of that particular scene, it conveys the message that he didn't want to cause suffering to a woman he loves. He sees himself in a situation with Maeve where he might become like his father was with his mother.

A Little Better.

This episode was a little better than episode 5 (thank god) but I still can't figure out what they're trying to achieve here.

First of all, the new characters were mostly absent from the episode and none of it took place at crazy college, so that was good.

The funeral was interesting. There was a humorous bit or two that was reminiscent of earlier seasons but it was still odd.

Are the writers just trying to make us hate the main characters we've watched for four seasons? Other than Aimee no one is particularly likeable anymore nor are they relatable. Is the aim to show us that these high school folks have grown into insufferable fools? Because right now nobody is likeable. Except Ruby. I'm liking Ruby and Aimee. Other than those two, nope. Couldn't care less.
