Bernadette finds herself leading a motley group of school kids in rehearsals for a school concert. The song she chooses is unpopular and the kids make their disenchantment clear when they do a parody of it. She requests help from Luce, however he's reluctant to add 'teacher' to his CV and thinks it's the first step to giving up as a musician. When he sees her struggling, he realises it's time to stop thinking about himself and help the woman he loves. Encouraging the kids to write their own words, they both realise it's tapping into hidden skills. Chai Li and Herb create tension as they argue over what he perceives as her insensitivity towards Rosa when she talks about returning to Vietnam. And Matt and Caroline reach a new point in their relationship when they have an open discussion about their marriage breakdown that is a cathartic release for them both.
