At the end of The Second World War, Allied troops arrive at Bergen-Belsen and discover the harrowing truths of The Concentration camps. The hunt for the living Nazis begin, but the list of names is exhaustive.
I wasn't expecting this series to return, when they concluded the events of the second world war, I thought that was it, instead they focus on The prominent Nazis that lived on, the highest ranking being Goering, Hoess and Speer.
Incredible to see actual footage of The Nuremberg trials, Goering, who was to be hanged for his crimes, but took the coward's way out, and Albert Speer, who was clearly an incredibly clever man, I still find it hard to believe that he wasn't hanged for what he did, what a tactician. Fascinating footage.
What an interesting character Gilbert was, he was placed in such an interesting position, I'd love to learn more about him.
You can only imagine the impact for those people that discovered the victims at The Concentration camps, it must have haunted them forever. I'm almost glad in a way that they didn't show too much of Belsen, it's genuinely too upsetting.
8/10.
