Creator Amber Benson has expressed interest in doing a second season: "we can bring in other people and give them new things to do. Seth Green is definitely on our list. Clare Kramer too, we would love to have Glory come and play. There's just so many amazing characters to bring in... I would love to do more seasons. Emma Caulfield Ford was like, 'When do we do the next one?' We really would love to do more."
Producers reached out to Joss Whedon for approval of this production, this being his only involvement in the making.
Creator Amber Benson (Tara) and James C. Leary (Clem) got emotional when talking about returning to the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) in this production.
Sarah Michelle Gellar does not return. Creator Christopher Golden explained: "We wouldn't want to recast Buffy and SMG has been clear about not wanting to play her again. So while Buffy is discussed in our series, she does not appear."
Most of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) titles released since 2019 focus on multiverse adventures, like this one. For instance, the BOOM! Studios comic series started out as a reboot, but was later revealed to be set in an parallel reality to the TV series. Its follow-up comic "The Vampire Slayer" features a world wherein Willow takes this mantle from Buffy.
