Nice feel-good movie set in Trinidad & Tobago
reperioca2 September 2019
Didn't come here to comment until I noted the following ignorant comment: "Is there some new place where England, Jamaica, India and China meet?" For the record, the local accent is Trinidadian (not Jamaican.) Also, there is nothing weird about Chinese representation; there is such a thing as multiculturalism in some places, of which Trinidad is an example.

I quite enjoyed this movie. As with many feel-good movies, some of the plot is predictable. The casting was very well done for the most part. I think they did an excellent job of integrating the music without wearing down the script. It's a nice change from mainstream Hollywood-type scripts. Really happy to be living in a time where there is greater access to diversity in film.

This Movie Will Leave You Bazodee with a Smile
scarletazalea29 August 2016
The characters of Bazodee have you laughing from beginning to end. A colorful and festive romantic comedy with some high tempo Soca beats to make you wiggle in your seat. There are beautiful shots of Trinidad and Tobago throughout the movie. It's definitely a promo for tourism and Caribbean exposure. It's a simple and predictable story line but the local Trini characters keep you glued to every word that they say with their deadpan humor. Or should I say sing...that accent is so sweet! Overall it's marvelous mix to see an East and West cast collaborate to create a successful and groundbreaking movie just as the lead characters create a soulful unity themed plot regardless of race and social status. If only this can transcend into reality but it definitely a positive start. Unity through musical entertainment! Bazodee all the way! ~Atevac

Decent. Better than I thought

Ok, so if you are expecting an American budget film and quality, don't watch. However, if you have appreciation for the excellent effort a little island 🌴 to put out a movie, you will absolutely enjoy it. I watch movies from all over the world and let me tell you, they did a good job. Better than mediocre. The acting was better than expected honestly, because I know most of them probably have never acted a day in their life. Well done!, It was better than I expected.

A colourful, multicultural extravaganza that embodies the diversity of Trinidad and Tobago.

Firstly, from the trailer alone I was intrigued. I couldn't wait to see how this story would unfold as well as I prayed they could do our culture justice. Not often do we see such a big, international production correctly embody who we are as people. So to see this film achieve this was impressive. The story of the film was easy to follow and entertaining to watch. To me the story itself was a 'Trini.' And I say this meaning that it came with its dramatic ups and downs, funny moments, sad moments, party animal moments and moments that made you say, "what he really doing?' The rise and fall in action could have been a bit more intense for me, but it had a good enough impact to make me a bit angry. The love story was interesting and romantic to watch, as a young writer it gave me a bit of inspiration to write something similar and hopefully just as interesting. The way it all wrapped up at the end just made you feel good, and even makes you wish you had a type of little forbidden love story at some point of your life. The acting was quite good and the casting was perfect. Each actor was well suited to their character especially 'Nikhil.' He played the role of the villain very well but somehow made me see the good in him at the same time, it was interesting. 'Anita' was well casted also, she was so soft spoken and graceful, you could tell that she wasn't used to our culture but she grabbed the bull by its horns and was successful. As for the character of 'Lee' I questioned Machel Montano's acing abilities a bit at first but I would say that he pulled it off so well that I couldn't see anyone else in that role. The locations in the film we all so beautiful and well put together, props to the location scout as well as the set designers. The costume designer did a really good job, the traditional Indian ware were colourful and suited the character's personality. Our culture is well represented throughout this movie. Each song made me sing along and dance a bit. The vibrancy of colour throughout the film was pleasing to see. How we gather and party even with strangers was well expressed and it just shows how we sometimes are able to forget differences when carnival al comes around and just join together as one. Since my favourite scenes were based around our people and carnival elements like J'ouvert, it show how well culture was represented and it was able to make me feel like I was part of the partying. Also, side note on the little product placements in between, it didn't go unnoticed, very nice advertising there. Overall Bazodee was a good experience, it made me proud to see Trinidad and Tobago so well represented on screen. Ain't nothing more Trini than love, unity and a bit of drama.

Does this movie know what it is or where it's from?
LaoagMikey29 July 2018
The accents are all over the map on this one. English, Indian, Jamaican and some I can't locate. And, then at 1:11:00 into the movie... here comes Chinese dragons. What is going on here? Is there some new place where England, Jamaica, India and China meet? I don't where this border would be, but there seems to be one! The acting is average. Some better than others but few that I would recommend to make another movie in their lives without attending acting school for a few years.

The music is extra loud, the talking is extra soft so keep the remote control in your lap and fingers on the volume controls. Lots of up and down to wear out your battery on this one.

Not a total waste of time but not one I will watch again.

Predictable, but the music and mix of cultures is worth the watch. I am now curious about Trinidad. My next vacation maybe ...

Stupidest Action in History of Movies
rhagel-6744315 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Her father was supposed to be an intelligent businessman. Yet, he signed over EVERYTHING, even his house and business? What a terrible plot line. The writer, producer or whoever wrote that into the plot should be fired and never work again. Pathetic.

I enjoyed this one throughly

Machel Montano is a huge star of Soca in TnT, and I was so happy to hear the Trini accent in a movie. So many movies have actors with the fakest island accents - this was fantastic with so many true, true, Trinis. Pleasant movie, well done, and a big treat for us soca music and fans of Trinidad and Tobago.

Excellent storyline and talented cast!
clarkeracquel27 September 2021
Someone said they probably never acted a day in their lives and they were surprised about the good acting? Very uninformed and dull person. This is IMDB, look them up. This movie was produced by a soca icon! These are well trained actors! Have some respect. Talented actors exist in the Caribbean as well!

For those others who don't understand the cultural melting pot, please open a book and read if this movie wasn't simple enough for you to understand how culture works.
