OK, not exactly born, since John Oliver has been around The Daily Show since 2006 and in the comedy business since at least 1997, but it surely finally found its moment to shine.
Oliver embraced beautifully the challenges and opportunities brought by the NSA files leakage that occurred simultaneously to his debut commanding the show (temporarily). The jokes implying jealousy from his colleagues, the other correspondents, were also great. The interview with Seth Rogen wasn't particularly exceptional, but using the guest as a means to exemplify what the collection of personal data by the American government means was simply genius.
Looking back with the perspective of time, believing that Oliver would make it big was never a "tin foil hat" thing. But it's always good news knowing that you're not paranoid.
