The entire film was shot in three days.
On the second day, a tornado warning shut production down for a couple of hours. Fortunately, the cast and crew were already filming in a basement and hunkered there till the storm passed. Filming resumed afterward.
Before Deinocheirus was decided on, other baby dinosaur candidates included Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and Oviraptor.
Ralph, the baby dinosaur, was initially named Nana (short for Banana). An early script element featured the creature being drawn to bananas. When that element was dropped, the name changed to Ralph as a nod to the baby Triceratops in the 1990 novel Jurassic Park (1993).
After their work on News Update Tonight: Dinosaurs in Our World (2022), Tim Cianfano, Anthony Feliciano, Max Bellomio, and Brian Bollmann started conceptual discussions for the movie in late June 2022.
