The opening match was jobbers Robbie Eagle (Rob Kellum) and Jason Herd defeating The Moondogs (Rex (Randy Colley) and Spot (Larry Booker), w/manager James E. Cornette) by disqualification. Commentator Dutch Mantell said that Herd was the son of Jim Herd, who had been the Executive Vice President from 1988 to 1992, making the name a deliberate shot at WCW. The referee disqualified The Moondogs after they hit Herd with a pool cue, even though he hadn't done anything about them using other weapons to that point.
Featured the debut of Rob Mayze as Prince Kharis, a wrestling mummy gimmick. Record producer/executive Rick Rubin was the money man behind the promotion, and the gimmick was his idea.
