I expected much more. I decided to watch it because of a trailer with of Bogdan and Dabovic's encounter , where their acting was superb. A few, clearly Croatian born actors, such as the actress playing Dragana, did a poor job with Montenegrin accent/dialect. Born to Serbian mother and a Montenegrin father, grew up in Herceg Novi, but speaks with Croatian dialect? Rookie mistakes! I didn't believe her, at all. As a matter of fact poor acting. Goran Bogdan and Dabovic and Jokovic saved this movie from being a total disaster. I think they meant to choose Split as the setting because the wedding band was playing only Dalmatian Kalpa music, which is wonder but it doesn't tie into the story. There are no great movies without great acting!!! Period! You can't get your actress to learn the dialect, then she isn't an actress.
This film deals with relationships between people in a difficult environment where communication is no one's strong suit.
The characters are well built and as a Montenegrin you can easily recognize people from your surroundings. The script is good, and contains several good dialogues, of which I would point out the conversation of Dragana's, main female role, with the mother of her fiancé. All the characters are dealing with non-understanding from the other side, and upon every character there is a expectation, so every single person is on the edge. This makes the characters funny but also very difficult for any relationship.
Visually film is not a great achievement. Given the locations, I wish I could enjoy more in shoots. In my opinion, the lighting was very often wrongly set. And I couldn't find anything interesting in camera movement in the film.
When it comes to music, I don't remember it, so it didn't make an impression on me.
Overall, it is about the story and characters. Great fun story that also challenges the traditional Montenegrin behavior and customs. Definitely worth of watching.
