Not worth your time
dan-eliassen18 March 2014
I did not have any expectations when I first started to watch this movie, and I'm sure glad I didn't have any either, because this was not a movie that should have seen the light of day, the acting is really bad.

The supposedly SEALs does not act like I have a feeling SEALs should behave when they're taking fire and maneuvering. They just run around with guns blazing, killing tonnes and tonnes of bad guys. And guess what? The bad guys don't know how to shoot, at all. A little like Rambo, except it isn't.

The acting is really not that great, Tom Sizemore does not convince me, and brings little to the table. He's just walking around swearing a lot looking at a screen, and then he swears some more.

There was just one thing in the movie that made me happy, and that was a "Saving Private Ryan" reference, if you've seen that movie, you'll recognize it when you see it, if you actually decide to watch this.

Last but not least; This movie is FUBAR.

The 4th movie in the Behind Enemy Lines franchise, and like so many other 4ths this could be a franchise killer. Not good.
cosmo_tiger28 March 2014
"The boys in Washington cried wolf about this African yellowcake before and we both know how that turned out." When a small team of S.E.A.L.S uncover intelligence about a sale of weapons grade uranium they are taken by surprise. The team isn't prepared and has no support coming. With only 36 hours left before the deal takes place the team must use all their training and skills to make their way to the site and stop the transaction or the US will be in danger. I will say that I liked the first Behind Enemy Lines but wasn't all that impressed with the other two. This one was a struggle for me to get through. I wasn't expecting anything close to Act of Valor but when you make a movie about Navy S.E.A.L.S. you should at least try to make them S.E.A.L. like. The action was so bad it made the movie almost unwatchable. When you reach the 4th movie in a series that means you usually go one too many. For example...Indy 4 was the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Leprechaun was in space, Batman 4 was Batman and Robin and technically Star Wars 4 was the Phantom Menace...this movie joins that list as possible franchise killers. Overall, a movie that is hoping that the Behind Enemy Lines title is enough to carry it...it's not. I give this a C-.

Commando part II
Knighthawk70124 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There be spoilers.

In the beginning there was Navy SEALs with Charlie Sheen, were SEAL operators are shown as cowboys who blast their way around. Those were the Top Gun days and action movies were like this. Then Act of Valor set a new standard showing how professional these soldiers are. Calculating and precise. This movie is more like the first one. In Act of Valor they rescue a hostage in almost absolute silence so the enemies have no chance to execute her. In ST 8 they start of in a daylight raid with a Reaper drone blasting the hell out of the camp. Usually these are armed with 4 Hellfire missiles but in this movie it was a little more. Then the SEALS go in and it's almost embarrassing to see how a guy pins them down at a corner and all they have to do is walk around the building to kill the guy. Yet it takes them about 2 minutes to think of this? After a 10 minute shootout they manage to rescue the hostage but no SEAL team would go in hot like Rambo if they could avoid this and only shoot like hell once the hostage is safe. Also taking cover seems not the be a part of the ST 8 training. They stand in open terrain while the enemy is able to shoot from uphill. Also the totally unbelievable water-boat chase was cool back in the 80's but not anymore now. At the end one of them faces a whole city and hardly takes cover, like some one playing Battlefield with godmode on. He managed to shoot everyone with his pistol, yet no one hits him while he is walking around like a tourist. Like Arnie walks around in Commando through the end of the movie. The plot is over-complicated, acting is poor at best and as for tactics and realism, I guess they hired some 12 year old to handle those parts of the story. Only watch it when you are a 80's action fan. Else go watch Act of Valor again and skip this atrocity!

SERIOUSLY, Who paid for the this movie to be made??
navydamon4 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I would like to point out that I am only 16 minutes into this god awful movie and decided to write my first review ever on here. This is not only bad acting and poor visuals but being retired Navy it pisses me off that because of the situation the world is in today someone thinks they can just throw Navy SEAL into a movie title and make money. To the writers of this pure POS, do some research before you decide to write a movie about something you have no clue about. For the company that bought the script and decided to it into a movie. You may want to rethink your life if you think this is what a movie should be. Yes you can say well you're only 16 min into the movie. Yes that is exactly right I'm only 16 min into the movie and I'm already so irritated that I write a review. Did I say it already that this is awful. A must on the DO NOT NEED TO SEE LIST.

The people who approved this script should be ashamed.
msul-nma-123 July 2015
I'm assuming this is what happens when a marginally okay director picks up a script from a special needs kid. It's not even a good idea for a charity project but what amazes me is how they got a halfway decent cast, and what seems to be a huge amount of funding and the backing of one of the largest Hollywood production studios all to produce this atrocity. Maybe Hollywood needs to stop for a moment and take a good look at itself. I am aware that there's "movies" out there that are worse, but non of them really irritated me like this one because they clearly had more resources than they deserve to make this pile of garbage.

Ridiculous.
Granthutson30 January 2015
I barely made it past the credits before giving up. All of the uniforms are knockoffs, knock ACU's, Type II's, and the working uniform. The gear is crappy, the tactics in communication is crappy, and that really just ruins the movie for anybody with any military knowledge at all. I would've given up on this film when I was 14 years old cause of the bad use of everything. Basically an Expendables with uniforms. Nudity, language, and guns. That's about it. A 12 year old would like this film. Other than that, watch Lone Survivor, Act of Valor, ZDT, or American Sniper if you're looking for tactics and military realism. I gave this 2 stars for effort. After recent films that have done excellent such as the ones I've listed, this kinda of movie just doesn't cut it anymore.

Call of Poopy & Medal of GoPro
christazz5 April 2014
This movie was sort of special. The only way to review this movie is by list points.

Here's what's wrong with it: Hand signals/commands are often wrong and extremely overused. Too many GoPro camera shots. Cliché'd soldier lines. Cliché'd scenarios. Extensive use of weapons with total disregard of gun mechanism reality. Blow stuff up first and then ask questions. Highly unprofessional & childish tactics. HQ felt like a LAN-Party and not as official intelligence center. No characters are even remotely likable. Cheesy drama (Soldier dies). LOL Entire movie feels like White Boys vs Nigros. That's how political incorrect that movie is.

The good thing: Blow stuff up. A lot of it. And millions of rounds of bullets. Like rain. Or a hailstorm.

It's nothing compared to any other military movie, because this one, is cheap in every regard. If you like Call of Duty rip-offs and those sorta indie FPS video games, you will watch this, for sure, yet you will shake your head at how ridicules this movie was. Nevertheless, if you like bullet rain and bombs blowing up, give it a try.

It is so horrible that can make a real SEAL cry!
sabatius11 April 2014
Like one of the previous posters, I registered on IMDb just to say a couple of words about this movie (yes it is so bad). Also, similarly to some other posters I managed to watch it until some magic barrier of 15 min, no wait, I paused at 18:53. I bet I managed to watch that 2-3 extra minutes more than others because I'm ex-military special forces guy (we are tuff lol)

I wont comment on acting, Iv'e seen worse, but the whole military aspect ... simply and obviously authors of this crap had no clue about it. Those so called SEALS (no offence to real ones) can be seen in a situations that are simply ridiculous. I'm dead certain that acting like they do would get them all killed in the first 2 minutes of this fight, but it all looks like they are against a bunch of broken target dummies... hurrah! ... Well, at least they communicate well ... those fantastic silent hand signals in ridiculous moments (often confirmed by a loud shout of the other SEAL) are just priceless.

I could go on about military details that really get on my nerves but I bet this comes with the territory and people without military background wouldn't be bothered by equipment details etc. However it would be nice if the authors could at least apply some logic and think a bit! ...

OK, there is a bad guys camp, we could bomb it and kill those buggers but there are two of our operatives in there so we have to send a SEAL team to rescue them... zzzz ... so let's start the action from ... bombing the place! WTF?!

My brain just hurts :)

Brilliant action scenes
peter-goldsworthy22 March 2014
I think some folk who have reviewed this flick in the past are judging it by storyline. I approach war / action /terrorism movies simply from the following ways: 1. Is there a sinister evil enemy that is believable and makes you despise them by the end? 2. Creative cinematography. Cmon we have all seen people shot in the head, there are very few gruesome scenes that have not been done before. Have to say there were a few in this (albeit unbelievable) that made me go wow. 3. Overall training of the actors. Do they look like soldiers, hold their gun as if they have been to boot camp. Thought Lex Shrapnel (what a name) was decent in this and others were strong characters.

This movie meets all of these critique elements and some. I definitely don't recommend this flick for people who are not in to saving private ryan, black hawk down etc. but for for those that do, this movie is a solid 6/10.

Gives a good laugh!
philiph8230 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst directed movie I've ever seen. The movie contains so much slow-motion it could have been shortened to 45 minutes. Which is too bad because the slow-motion is the only thing looking good in this movie. The story makes no sense, at all. And prepare for a laugh. You will see people exploding, a UAV containing 4 missiles shooting 6 in a row, a enemy which seems to take timeout every time they hit someone, blind drivers, ACOG-scopes spontaneously becoming long range sniper-scopes. Sporadically smoking boats maneuvered sporadically by a man holding his rifle with both hands. Days without water and food and different lightning in every scene. Need I say more? Watch this and be prepared to laugh your lungs out.

So bad ... it's good
larryorourke9 February 2015
First of all have no expectations.... if you do decide to watch this movie. It is a bad movie for what it's trying to be. But it left me with some serious questions,

Was this made by a guy who was making fun at some of the really crappy sequels rambo/commando 2-4 or 6..etc.. that went on in the time of VHS & betamax era???. Was this guy just a bad director??? or he did the best he could do with the money he had???. mmmm....,But i found it very funny and the action was o.k.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if (like me) you just come across it when there is nothing else on the telly. This was the best of a bad lot and quirky in it's own b movie-ish type.

If this came out when i was 15 or 16'ish (1985-86) i would have watched it 10 times. Like playing space invaders now oppose to call of duty... nostalgic.

so i liked it. (mind you they are bad seals... :)

Excellent Navy Seal adventure. Minor spoilers
DarkQuickening3 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Nice directing job by Roel Reine, who also was the director of photography. All the actors did decent jobs and held their weapons properly. Lots of great shots in South Africa. The Operation Delta Force movies from 15 years ago also filmed in South Africa and I remember that same bridge being used. Cool explosions and great use of slow motion during the battles, especially from the .50 caliber machine gun firing very big holes. The opening raid on the evil general's compound was very well done. Gigantic body count - showing just how bad ass these Seals are. The boat chase and waterfall scenery was fun to watch. The story was pretty simple - if anything, just watch it for the cinematography and the battle scenes. I never knew that tower in Johannesburg was hollow in the center. A well done Special Forces adventure. After renting it, I might buy it.

didn't suck that much but still pretty bad
hundahl162021 March 2014
I think it's kinda disgraceful to call these guys SEALS their combat skills reminds me of a old Arnold film where they have infinite ammo and even though the bad guys outnumber them a 100 to 1 and they all have guns none of them understands the concept of aiming

and seals don't use a standard M4A1 actually they all have different weapons and the only one who actually might be on track is the guy with the HK417 it just seems like a weird place to go cheap , just sayin.

awesome effects and awesome filming , and even though the horrible screenplay and unrealistic behavior and crappy dialog would normally have been a deal breaker I managed to watch it all the way to the end

Horrible
ride-897-72935923 March 2014
OMG, this is the worst movie i have ever seen Did not even get to the end. Horrible acting from the whole cast. Unrealistic navy seals. Being Australian i don't know much about seal teams and their skills etc but the guys in this can't shoot, give unnecessary hand signals throughout the movie and talk in some weird lingo that i have never heard in other seal/war movies. Waste of money making it Waste of time watching it Waste of download time and space Do yourself a favor and give it a huge miss. The cast cannot act and need lessons before making another movie. The director should get lessons on directing as well. This will get the worst movie award for 2014 for sure I would rather watch Rambo 4 (which was just as bad) a million times than watch this once

surprisingly good
MovieIQTest19 March 2014
i have to say that this movie rocks! forget about the flaws of the screenplay, it's okay. you have to kowtow to these actors who played the tough roles of this small team infiltrated behind enemy line to do a mission absolutely impossible. the combat firefighting scenes one after another were excellent, the camera man followed the actors during the combat that made you feel that you were also following them doing the shootings, the dashing, the evasive zigzagging running. all these five actors who played the small navy seal team did quite a believable job. what the leading actor did in this film was quite amazing. when he fell down the staircase to escape the explosion, i really don't know how he or the stuntman did to avoid the continued falls and crushing down the stairs one after another. there were constant firefights, close combats that were performed and carried out like real, although these guys seemed to immune to the bullets and their ammunitions seemed never used up. but funny thing is that i have surprised myself to willingly accept such impossible ridicules. i rarely like such military crappy movies before, but this time, i quite enjoyed it and enjoyed greatly. the kamikaze style fighting scenes were simply too great to be picky. all the stunts did in this film were top-notched and professionally carried out in a perfect way.

by the way, there's obviously an editing error of the movie @ time frame 01:16:14 and then @ 01:16:23, @ the first one, he already got off the chopper, why @ the next he still sitting in chopper and talking, then jumped off the chopper again? the editor should be kicked on the shin to wake up.

This is a good movie wrapped up in bad cocoon but bear with me
yarik8328 October 2014
I think as a viewer you can't honestly expect a blockbuster from a low end production studio. Given that frame of reference I find it amazing that director of photography went above and beyond. It was as if he or she poured their heart and soul into it and it shows. Yes the plot line is overused and yes there are elements in which you roll your eyes and yes dialogue is silly but behind all of that there is some good fun to be had in this movie.

Camera work (minus the usual hand-held) was spot on. We got to see elements of Africa in all of its beauty zebras and all.

I gave this movie a 5, even though I think it really deserves a 3 but it honestly tried. Was it not for silly dialogue and over the board trivialized gunfights and 9 gazillion bullets that never hit anything and the pointless explosions and yes even nudity... outside of all of that we have a flick that you can rent on a rainy day to enjoy.

We have become so spoiled by high production films that I actually do genuinely enjoy these college graduate movies and it felt like a college graduate's first movie. It was unpolished but it is a start.

As bad as other reviews made out.
ahowroyd21 January 2015
I can watch rubbish and still enjoy it. I lasted 40 minutes before turning off. I cannot find anything right about the film. The script is clichéd and looks and totally lacks a proper storyline. It looks cheap and unrealistic. None of the SEALS would last 10 minutes in a war zone.

What a shame as the first film was brilliant. This is a total insult to the franchise. There are no spoilers in this review as I am sure everyone would struggle to watch such dross. There is better action in a power rangers episode so don't waste your time. I would suggest watching Platoon, Full Metal Jacket or any other war film. This film makes Battleship look good.

Not worth watching
fhemmer20910 May 2014
This was awful and I can't believe we actually watched the whole thing. Bad acting and a disgrace to how real Seal team members would behave.

I have to admit, the producers did spend some money on special effects with all the explosives and shoot them up scenes but even those can't overcome the negatives of the rest of the movie. Some of the lines were very sophomoric and made us laugh out loud. And some of the action scenes were literally unbelievable. The bag guys were either the worst shooters ever or else the good guys had invisible shields. And the coincidences in some of the plot lines should be an embarrassment to the writers.

We were scratching our heads at the end that this movie was actually made and I feel lucky that it was only about an hour and a half long.

Disgrace to the Seals
w-scottnelms5 April 2014
I love these type of movies and Loved "Act of Valor", however this movie was the worst I have watched in a long time. I had actually bought it on Blu-Ray or I would have turned it off. The whole plot is terrible. If the mission is to rescue captured CIA agents who are held in an enemy camp,(same plot as in Act of Valor) how can you have drones destroy the camp without knowing where the hostages are inside of the camp? That is just the start of one lame scene after another. I thought the acting was bad, the lines were bad and surely not language the Seals would use, the Seal Commander in command of the operations center was very unprofessional and surely not indicative of an actual Seal Commander. I found the movie disgraceful and almost like a spoof movie to the image of a very elite Military group and surely any actual Seal was embarrassed by this movie. I am going to have to watch Act of Valor again just to renew my utmost respect for the Seal teams.

Pleastantly surprised
mackalvin112 July 2014
First off the minute I saw T.Sizemore I knew it was at least going to be descent. I can understand how some people that have military background may have been a little turned down. But this was a pretty well executed movie that had pretty good acting. This movie also had good production value. It is and above average budget movie, cool little popcorn flick. I would say if you liked Act Of Valor then you should definitely like this. Well directed, and well acted. Glad I watched it. Sizemore never disappoints.I also thought the locale they picked was good. The enemy had a tiny bit of personality. And the set pieces worked very well. It kind of reminded me of something you would see Segal in or C.Norris. Like I said great popcorn flick maybe something for you and one of your Bro's to drink a couple of brewskees to and eat some babyback ribs. Thanks for reading.

Bad, Bad, Bad movie
johnwalkerms6 March 2016
Okay, this is one of the worst military movies I have seen in a long, long time. And I only watched the first 20 minutes. I couldn't take anymore of it. I am a US Army veteran and I am very familiar with the military quirks and I will give you 3 of them that I discovered in the first 20 minutes.

1. In the opening scene, Tom Sizemore is in the Command Control Center and he is in US Navy BDU's. That is I THINK he is in the US Navy. Seeing as the "US Navy" Velcro label is missing from his uniform (making him seriously out of uniform), I have doubts as to whether he is in the Navy, Army, Marines, or whatever. Rank is also missing from the uniforms in the Control Center.

2. In the Battle that ensues, the head bad guy, General Ntonga appears on the porch, does not take cover, and starts firing his pistols wildly. Does the Seal Team decided to take him, the supreme ranking officer, out? No. Instead they shoot and kill about 10 little peons surrounding him. One of the Navy Seals finds a 50 caliber machine gun and instead of shooting the General, he shoots all the bullets out in a sweeping motion, Rambo style. Everyone is killed except for the General. He escapes. This Navy Seal Team fails in that task miserably.

3. I did not see any communications devices on any of the Seal Team members. It is CRITICAL that the team members communicate with each other, instead of shouting at each other. There is a sniper in the battle mentioned above, but without communications devices, he does not know that the General is out in the open. Also, while being shot at, one the members acts like he is crouching behind a jeep for cover, when his head is actually above the jeep itself, making himself a head shot target.

Oh, by the way. There is no Seal Team 6. It was disbanded in 1987, the year The Navy established the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, also known as DEVGRU, which governs all active duty Navy Seals (about 2,500 members). This organization is now known as Seal Team 6. So when the media refers to Seal Team 6, they are actually referring to all Navy Seals as a whole. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_SEALs#SEAL_Teams)

Maybe Roel should have thought about hiring an actual former Navy Seal to make sure military protocols are adhered to?

The information contained in this review was all researched and verified. None of these statements were false, they are all factual.

Decent Watch
tarunjain989321 March 2014
Though this movie contain several bloopers but this is not a bad watch. Action sequences are good with continuous gunfights. The Seal Team Group of five seem to be godlike as initially during attack on heavily fortified base not even one of them get wounded.

Good sequences involving drones, 50 cal machine guns, rocket launchers. This movie has some weak moments but it will not bore you and will keep you interested. There are incidents to keep one emotionally attached but they seem to be funny for obvious reasons. The ending sequence is the worst part of the movie with single seal taking on hundreds of people on street with rockets, AK47.

Completely rubbish
fordleung25 February 2015
This movie is completely rubbish. I just created an IMDb account to write this comment and rate this movie. The plot is incredibly bad as the seal team just like the avengers and the character just like an superior agent. Every impossible thing happens in this movie. the movie must be spent a lot of money to made as I can see from those explosion scenes, but the plot really makes the movie sucks. Moreover, in the last 20mins, which is Case running in the town and chasing by hundreds of people, and there is a f__king gun shop to let him replenish the arms, who writes this stupid script? omg I just wasted more than 2 hrs of my life on this movie and this comment.

Save yourself the time
element-073725 July 2015
Like at least a couple other people I've seen I created an account just to write this review.

I honestly struggle to figure out where to begin with this. There isn't a single redeeming quality of this film and I urge anybody thinking of watching it to avoid it.

I usually do save myself the hassle by judging war films based on their Netflix pictures. This one had the cheesiest god awful one I've ever seen. But I also saw the same thing on Jarhead 2 and Special Forces and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they were pretty good.

So I went ahead and watched this. Everything about this film from the start is ridiculous. The 'SEALS' act absolutely nothing like standard soldiers (minus the shooting stuff) let alone those that have received the most elite training. The way they carry out their missions are utterly ridiculous and the fact those missions exist in the first place make no sense.

The characters in this film are completely stale, I felt nothing for any of them, not even a hint of disdain for the main antagonist. In fact when the first SEAL was killed I actually laughed out loud because of how utterly stupid the scene was.

The main problem is that the story made no sense whatsoever. As in absolutely none. Towards the end he somehow finds the main antagonist with no intel on where she might be in the entirety of Johannesburg, simply by assuming (somehow correctly) that they will go to the tallest building.

He then takes on the entirety of the urban mob there with a pistol (which he had a single magazine for but somehow spawned several more).

There are too many specific things to mention in a single review. I think I'm just venting to be honest, just don't watch this film please.
