Season Five Review
southdavid27 March 2024
After nearly three years, and only two specials to keep us going, The Venture brothers returned with Season Five, an 8-episode run, that carries on immediately where season four and the revelation in the Halloween special, leave us.

Having learned that he is a clone, and not the original Dean, Dean (Michael Sinterniklaas) struggles into an 'emo' phase and won't communicate with his father, Dr Venture (James Urbaniak). Venture though has problems of his own, having agreed to deliver a shield for Gargantua-2 for his brother on a tight deadline and then learning from a disgruntled Army that the Venturestein soldier has gone rogue. With the operation finished, Brock (Patrick Warburton) and the rest of SPHINX return to the O. S. I leaving 21 (Doc Hammer) in control of the assets. Venture also engages Augustus St. Cloud (Christopher McCulloch) a billionaire collector to offer him whatever assets he can spare, unaware that St. Cloud is the archenemy of Billy Quizboy (Doc Hammer).

It's another great season of "The Venture Brothers". The lore continues, with some of the aspects of the bigger story starting to revert by the end, with 21 seemingly rejoining The Monarch and the SPHINX team returning to the O. S. I now that General Gathers is in control. There are interconnected stories, with Monstroso revealing a member of the Guild, and giving the OSI a route in, leading to later episodes where The Sovereign takes drastic measures. The Guild actually feature heavily in the concluding two episodes too with the need for several new members.

It's still one of my absolute favourites and the only one that I'm already planning another watch through of, even though I've still got a special, two seasons and a movie to go.
