This was the seventh most-watched programme of the week on UK television, with 15.75 million viewers.
Beryl Reid made her debut on the panel in this episode, and became one of the most regular guests on the show, second only to Lorraine Chase, with 26 appearances in total.
In her 1984 autobiography "So Much Love", Beryl stated that she loved doing the show, and, having met host Terry Wogan before, "I instantly got a great feeling of being at home with him".
Terry noted the connection between them in his own autobiography released 16 years later: "I don't know why Beryl took a smack [liking] to me; she could be difficult, temperamental, with others. With me, and on Blankety Blank, she was perfect".
One item of note is that, although she appeared in both episodes where Les Dawson was a fellow guest panellist, 25 of her episodes were with Terry as presenter, only Episode #7.12 (1984) with Les as host.
