SVU has been on a downward trend for a while, but the past few seasons have turned what was a slow decline into a nosedive of epic proportion. So much of this season does not make sense from a simple logistical point of view. For instance, in the second episode Benson sprints into traffic thinking that she has spotted a van similar to the one that an abducted girl was seen inside in the first episode. Did Benson forget that they already found the van? She couldn't have since she is still wearing the bracelet as a reminder of her promise to the girl's mother to find her, which she found inside the van, so how could she have forgotten that the team already located the van? Does she think there is a criminal conspiracy using numerous ridiculously coloured vans abducting young women in New York? A similarly bizarre logical error occurred in this episode when the victim's parents claim that their daughter admitted to covering the security cameras with smiley face stickers only after being confronted with the fact that similar ones could be found in her bedroom. Do her parents not have access to their own security cameras which captured their daughter covering the cameras with these stickers which was shown to the audience well in advance of this scene? This episode in that of itself is not terrible, but every SVU episode as of late is littered with plot holes and illogical characters who behave in a bizarre fashion simply because the plot necessitates it. Exemplifying that was the son in this episode who, after one witness claims to have heard the victim allege he committed a crime, decided to confess and accept a plea deal while no other evidence was offered and the victim herself refused to testify. Why would he do this? Oh right, because the episode was running out of time and the writer's room needed to bring the story to an abrupt end. I understand that with the writer's strike many of these scripts were probably sped along, I only wish the producer's had decided to wait until more coherent stories could have been developed as the show is turning into a farce.
