Prior to the world premiere of Shoah on television, April 27, 1987, a reception was held at WNET in New York City earlier in the day attended by journalists invited to meet and talk with Claude Lanzmann and those whom worked on the retrospective interview segments with Lanzmann, in the Palisades, New Jersey, and in Paris.. This supplemental interview footage was shown following each evenings broadcast of "Shoah." The time it took to complete all negotiations for this landmark multiple four day prime time screening of Shoah on WNET Channel 13, New York, including the segmented interview with Lanzmann shown each nigh took almost two years to negotiate . Interview segments with Lanzmann were filmed in 1985, two years prior to the television premiere of Shoah on PBS, April 27, 28, 29, 30, 1987.
