Snow?
larrylevinson-114989 February 2024
The streets are covered with snow.

Snow? Where did they get snow?

I can't believe they have snow-covered streets.

I guess I fixate on all the wrong things in the television universe, but this one hits me in a core place. There is no snow here and there hasn't been for way too long.

This simple thing makes it difficult to watch the episode without wondering, where did they get the snow?

New York and New Jersey haven't had any real snow in years. I miss the snow. I wish we had snow. I want more snow. Why is there snow on television and none on my lawn, about 50 miles from where the episode was filmed?

The family drama was better than protecting the witness
lurch39413 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Which supper was last? It could be either, but the Stabler family drama was more engaging than the protection of the witness and her bratty teenagers.

Learning that Randall turned in his father to IAB was understandable and maddening. Discovering that younger brother Joe Jr. Is up to something shady was a rare chance for Elliot and Randall to bond after physical conflict. Eli's anger at his father's disengagement from the family was believable.

As for guarding the witness, other commenters have already addressed that well. I'm wondering why the captain was involved when Bell answers to Lt. Brewster. Consistency, Wolf Productions!

Dumbest episode yet
kdgmk-597-84939410 February 2024
The team is going to protect a family from a violent drug cartel; doesn't bring semi-auto rifles or extra ammunition, Stabler gets there faster from his home than the patrol cops or SWAT/ESU, no one appears to be wearing body armor including FBI agents outside, standard equipment for a protection detail or anytime cops expect incoming fire.

Not to mention the fact these highly important witnesses against a violent drug cartel would be protected by a specialized tactical team, i.e. ESU, FBI HRT, not by detectives. When the kid's gun went off the muzzle angle was nowhere near Sgt. Bell for her to be struck.

Not to the usual L&O meticulous standards.

Really?

Warning: Spoilers
OK. NYPD and FBI have THE key witness to take down an arm of the cartel dumping fentanyl on the city. And they let them stay at home guarded by a few detectives who didn't even bring enough ammo. C'mon! So cartel machine guns start blasting in an elite neighborhood and somehow our hero arrives from his family dinner before NYPD and FBI SWAT? Then, despite running out of ammo, our heroes defeat an armed to the teeth cartel hit squad with hand guns. Really? Real cops must roll their eyes watching this. I'd like to hear from a reviewer who knows law enforcement protocol and technique.about how this "protection" would have been done in real life.

The Last Supper

Warning: Spoilers
We are really seeing the cultural impact The Bear is having as we have had commercials parodying their infamous Christmas dinner episode and now we had an episode of Law and Order: Organized Crime that took nods from it. The fighting was entertaining, although a bit random.

The witness protection bit was a little tired though. We have seen this story play out 1000 times where the bad guys always end up finding where they are being held and almost get to them. They didn't get that close, so there's that, but even ignoring the cliche this was still a pretty entertaining episode for the first time this season.
