If you're a fan of horror or thrillers it's hard to find anything out there that is truly scary anymore. Most modern horror movies and TV shows rely on cheap tricks and clichés for scares, rendering thrillers not so thrilling. In that sense, Darknet is like a breath of fetid air - and I mean that as a compliment. This show is truly creepy. It plays off our more modern concerns - no ghosts or demons - of fear of self and fear of the other, and it gets us where we can still be gotten - online and on camera. Paranoid delusions come to life. Internet trolls take action in the RW. You can't face reality, but you can post it online!

In the first three episodes of season one the stories intersect in unusual ways. Episodes four and five largely stick with one main character, but the last episode ties these characters together through one final devastating and intensely scary moment. That moment is a breath held, waiting for season two!

Afterward you'll be checking all the locks on your windows and clearing your internet history. You'll take the money and run, unplug your GPS and never, ever follow random clues, no matter how sexy they are, to their final destination.

Darknet will make you believe in the horror/thriller genre again.

Darknet- a Canadian horror TV series... is one of the best horrors I've seen in a long time. I'm surprised to see only two reviews here! If you're like me, bored with all the horror movies we've been getting lately, this will be a diamond in a pile of mud. It completely goes a different route than what you're used to seeing. Truly chilling and intriguing. I wouldn't suggest for the paranoid prone folks or those with weak stomaches, ha ha. I found it impossible to stop after each episode. I love the gory, puzzling, creepy, thrill ride that I got from watching. Impatiently waiting for season two! If you're a fan of the horror genre...don't pass this one up!

If you've been getting tired of the zombie flicks and other cliché horror movies that's been churning out there, then you will be refreshingly surprised at this creepy horror series. Each episode is only around 25 minutes long, so you will fly through these, especially since they are original horror that will keep you interested till the last minute. My only complaint is that there are not enough episodes and they are too short! If you are a fan of the VHS movies, then you will definitely like Darknet, and it will certainly get you your VHS fix! I hope this series expands on its episode numbers per season because this is one show that absolutely deserves to stick around for a long time.

I honestly never heard of this show was just browsing Netflix being bored. I only read what it was about and glanced over the actors/actresses, nobody big but I've seen a few of them in other shows.I'm glad I found the series. It is a mixture of oddity/thriller and I guess a little horror, light gore horror. The acting was pretty good and the plot for each episode was each entertaining. It is an interesting show that kept me watching all the season episodes in one sitting. After it was over I actually wanted more and hope for a season 2. I don't watch too many non mainstream series nor do I write many reviews, but I hope this catches on and if it does I hope the writers can keep it interesting as it already has.

While Darknet never feels like a full-formed series, the individual moments are worthy of praise. Stop thinking about the bigger picture and enjoy the moment, because Darknet does boast more than a few really good ideas. Some of the directors and writers that take part in this anthology have some interesting things to bring to the table. Some stories explore the imagined horror, yet without the lack of pay-off that usually comes with that premise. Certain moments shine with ingenuity. A breast implant surgery takes a horrific turn. A hospital patient finds herself trapped in a living nightmare. There are a few jump scares in Darknet, but most of the horror comes from the atmosphere hanging over this show. The good thing about each new character not being around for very long is that we watch each story, totally unable to guess where this particular chapter is going to end up. The one thing missing from the line-up is a supernatural villain, so the horror is very real and gritty. Anything that happens on this show could very feasibly happen in a real life scenario. The directors show us just enough of the murders to satisfy the audience (the show opens with a terrific intro), yet cut away, so we have to imagine the rest of the horror. There is also a wide range of directional styles, so there is something for every horror fan. We get home invasion horror, we get a slow unravelling of horrific clues and we get bloody murder. We even get a nice break from the scares for a few horror comedy chapters (full-on horror after full-on horror rarely works, after all). Shaun Benson's character probably won me over the most because his two stories (one involving an encounter with his creepy doppelganger and another involving a mix-up with his prostitutes), are rip-roaringly funny, yet still keeping that creepy horror vibe we expect. They also, like most of the stories here, end in the most unexpected way imaginable, which is Darknet's strongest card. This is more than a horror; it is a mystery show as well.

I was really impressed with this tech-inspired reboot of classic horror anthologies like the "Tales From the Crypt" and "Creepy" comic books, older British films like "Dead of Night" and "Asylum," Stephen King's "Creepshow" homage, and the sadly cancelled "Masters of Horror" and "Fear Itself" TV shows.

Produced on a modest budget for Canadian television, the "Darknet" series is definitely in the same modern-tech vein as the "V/H/S" movies, but with more precise direction, striking photography, razor-sharp editing, and a deliciously macabre sense of humor. (And don't worry, you "found footage" haters -- the low-tech filming is limited to select glimpses of security cams, web sites, lap tops, and smartphones.) Like the wonderful "Trick 'r Treat" (and "Pulp Fiction") these fiendishly gruesome tales jump around in time and criss-cross over each other (some more successfully than others) -- and the end result is a must-see series for horror fans. It's extremely clever, surprisingly suspenseful, full of mind-bending twists, and often dementedly funny.

Watch it with the lights out!

In the unlikely event you find this whilst looking for horror anthologies, you will be pleasantly surprised. Despite the occasional budget constraint, this effort punches way above it's weight and I would put it up alongside the best episodes of Tales from the crypt. I won't do it the disservice of describing any of the many short stories or giving spoilers. Great writing, and some daring conclusions. Excellent.

My Husbear and I where searching up something good to watch. This was one of those shows where we thought it was just going to be another cheesy anthology series. Boy, we where wrong. Darknet is gruesome smart. A Puzzle of a series that all connects by this spooky website... almost like that Best Gore site. I loved watching all of the episodes and it's a quick watch too cause it's just so damn intriguing. We would be like, "Oh wait, I think that happens"... and then it turns the tables and something else happens that you'd least expect. There is some confusion at first- but that means they are making a show that makes the audience truly use their heads and think and be surprised at the outcomes. This is one of those shows that you have to watch more than once to see what you may have missed. It rivals American Horror Story and this show doesn't have a lot of publicity... it's truly a hidden gem. Netflix really needs to pick up a season 2 for this show stat.

Short stories have quite the intriguing factor to them. You can pop them in, watch them quickly and be done with them. And if you don't like one of the stories, you'll just go on to the next one. Imdb has not put an end date to this, so I reckon sometime there may come more of these ... but since the first and only seasons was made in 2013, nothing seems to have moved into that direction.

The 6 episodes at hand are well done overall and some are as expected better than others. This of course will depend on your liking too. There are twists within twists sometimes, which is also nice touch to the whole thing. Getting things that are unexpected is always ... tight (as Ryan the Pitch Meeting guy would say, if you are familiar). Decent enough show for those into horror and into the unknown (not the Frozen one, reference may elude some in a few years time, I'm good with that)

This is one of the best series I've seen in a long time when it comes to horror. Even more fascinating is the fact that there are two tales per episode. What's even more amazing is that throughout every tale, you'll notice small things that connect to previous tales from previous episodes.

The quality is very high on these and it feels like a higher-budget V/H/S. Every tale is well acted, well executed, and possesses clever and puzzling twists that you may or may not figure out by the end. That's what keeps the viewer entangled in each tale. The mystery, suspense, and puzzling factors are palpable.

It's a mixed bag really in terms of what you get. You may find a gory piece, a thriller, a mystery, or anything in between.

Very pleasant and very much worth the time to sit through. On the plus side, it's on Netflix. Go check it out! You will not be disappointed in the least.

I love this show so much I've watched the first season so many times sad when it was taken off Netflix we need a season two!

In short. Very interesting well written and out of the ordinary. I like how the series ties all the stories together in some way during the episodes so it keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. Not your run of the mill horror stuff some really freaky things happen that really surprise you. So the stories keep your interest.

I am really interested to see how season 2 starts given what happened at the end of season one.

But with that said for any horror fan I think you will be pleasantly surprised at this.

Its a Canadian series and I don't think Netflix has the next season yet which is a real shame. NICE WORK From our Neighbors to the north!

It's so refreshing to be taken off-guard by horror. All too often you feel like you've seen the same old tired formula in front of your eyes before.

Once in a while though, we're caught off- guard, which is exactly why we're here. Horror fans watch horror for the tension and the exhilaration of the unknown, and all too often we get an anticlimax of something we've seen before. Darknet, on the other hand, delivers where we need it to. When you think you know what you're getting you're smacked in the face and reminded that you aren't the most twisted individual out there.

Grade-A storytelling, with a fresh perspective, Darknet is a pleasant and welcome surprise for horror fans that focuses on narrative and tension. The best thing since sliced Achilles.

This series is six-episodes long and though similar, each episode offers something new. The defining characteristic of the series is the intensity - the story is certain to hold your attention and tickle your nerves scene after scene.

The first episode features a woman who is concerned that there is someone else in her apartment; a killer operating near the underpass and a troubled man going through a divorce tempted by a trail of clues. The stories are all interconnected, some scenes non-linear. In most instances, the viewer is sure to be surprised and thrilled by the revelations.

There is a consistent creepy atmosphere throughout, with erotic tension and mild gore making an appearance every once in a while. The cinematography and music went very well together with a tightly- knit plot each time.

My only complain was with episode four, which seemed uninteresting and unwatchable, so uncharacteristic and out-of-place.

The series ends with a well-placed scene that ties it all together, just as Darknet binds the several characters and stories like a loose, disturbing thread.

Only the most unimaginative viewers would dislike this series. Watch it while you can. Or I'll hack you to death.
