Sex & Nudity

  • There are multiple kissing scenes throughout the show, some between different sex couples and some between same sex couples. The whole premise of the show is focused on a teen who thinks she is in love with her best friend and realizes she is a lesbian after a seemingly passionate kiss is shared between them.
  • Towards the end of season one there is a relationship between two people and one of them is abstinent whilst the other one is quite hormonal, this is over quickly though
  • In the second season, a relationship between two males is quite sexual and they make many sexual remarks. Whilst on a date, they get into an argument, one of the males tells the waiter they will get a big tip, this is meant as a sexual innuendo. Whilst looking at wrestling males someone makes the remark 'these moves are so homoerotic, I'm surprised there isn't one called deep penetration' the trainer then replied 'there is, I'll show you'. The same couple get together after oral sex is implied between the both of them in an alley behind a gym.
  • In the second season finale, a man and woman kiss very passionately in the schools art room, they remove eachothers clothing so they are just in their underwear, sex is implied.
  • In the second season premiere, sex is implied between two characters, one of which climbs out the others window, we see them jumping down from the living room window, it is implied they are completely naked but it is blurred out.

Violence & Gore

  • There is not really any violence and/or gore in the series. There are some fights but these aren't really violent.

Profanity

  • Some mild terms like 'shit', 'bitch', 'skank' are used infrequently.
  • There are implied uses of 'fuck' but these are bleeped over
  • Religious exclamations like 'Oh my God' are used frequently. Bare in mind the show is based in a high school so there is a lot of offensive slang used at times.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • One episode of season one 'it takes three to tango' is focused on three friends considering a threesome, it shows them practicing and they almost go completely through with it but one of them storms out because she thinks the other two were kissing too passionately
  • One character - Shane is constantly hooking up with other men throughout season one in season two however he gets into a relationship with his trainer and they maintain a raunchy relationship throughout
  • A woman fantasizes about making out with her girlfriend in a tent then her best friend this scene is prolounged and there are clevages and women wearing only underwear visible.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters are often seen drinking alcohol at parties, in the first season finale, one character gets drunk and so does another and to get back at her friend, sleeps with him One episode of season two focuses on the use of ecstasy at a club one character unknowingly takes it and ends up basically going insane, there isn't a storyline following this however, it is a one time, accidental thing

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Not frightening, but intense emotional scenes. The main focus of the show may be upsetting for some people; a girl who is inlove with her best friend but her best friend doesn't feel the same. There are many break up scenes involving different and same sex couples, 'shipped' couples break up and get back together. we are led to believe that Duke, Shane's boyfriend has broken up with Shane in the penultimate episode of season two, then in the finale he announces he is gay on TV and declares his love for Shane. when we are led to believe they are broken up it can be upsetting.
  • The main character Amy has a relationship with a girl named Ragen, they nearly break up and this can be emotional
  • The season two finale can be a tear jerker to some as it deals with the fact that a best friend finds out that her supposed best friend slept with her boyfriend and she has to try and cope with it. they become friends again however at the end of the episode
  • A character reveals she is intersex (Lauren) and when she is telling her friends it can be seen as upsetting as she is generally a strong character and this shows her weaker side.
