When this show first came out on PBS Kids, I had high expectations for this show. It's about two kids with a time machine that goes back only a short time, up to a day.
But the show's plot is boring and simplistic. Kids have a neighbor who have problems. Kids go back in time to stop neighbors problems. That is all their is to the plot, and it never gets remotely creative. Yes, each episode uses that plot.
I watched one where two of the kids friends had a huge argument and they separated. I thought it was something serious they had a fight over, but whay was it? One of the kids spoiled the movie, and the other kid didn't want to hear it. The smart kids explain to them, then go back in time to stop the other kid from spoiling the movie. Another was about a girl in tears just because the food was too spucy. Then the kids go back in time to get her the right food. Hello, you could get a refund?
That's all there is to the whole show. The others have the same plot.
First of all, like I said, it's boring. Second, it misses a great message. Things may not always go right; we can make mistakes, but we can learn and fix them on our own. Kids may do the wrong things, mess up, say mean things, but we can't always go back in tie.. We can however, learn from our mistakes and not do them again.
Compare this with other shows on that channel. A Wild Kratts Movie, Martin wants to go back in time to at least save the dodos, but he fails and they become extinct. He does learn that instead if focusing on the past, to learn better and fix the future, to protect endangered animals. Pinkaliscous has a similar premise. She eats too many cupcakes and turns pink. Does Pink learn to to uses a time machine to prevent herself from eating cupcakea. No. She eats the right foods, to make her normal again.
I gave this show a high four instead of a one because it's not a harmful show. It doesn't have really bad behavior that is detrimental to other kids minds. Not cringey, just boring. Still better than then some other shows that glorify bad behavior.
