Fragma: A 12 minutes short film full of emotions and beauty.
elsa-nony8 January 2014
A man meets another man in a library ... Two strangers who actually seem to know each other really well ... Their meeting will ensue a firework of varied emotions ... Fragma is a silent film, that doesn't need any dialogs to express what's seen on screen or between the characters : everything is revealed through the actor's faces' expressions. The scenes are composed of bright colors (differently used: gray-blue for the present & pop colors for souvenirs) and gorgeous landscapes & decors. The music is virtuoso and perfectly illustrate each emotions. One of the most interesting thing about Fragma is its energetic editing : the memories of the two male characters are displayed like two different photo albums, with the own characters' subjective souvenirs, perspectives and experiences in the own lives. Personal memories, yes, but with a universal resonance to it : the audience doesn't need to know who these characters are to recognize that they have common memories with them, some steps in their lives that they have lived as well, whether it is childhood memories, in a relationship or the aching absence of a loved one. And the echoing pain knowing that you will never really know someone, in its entirety. The casting choices were really wise, as each interpreters are all wonderful and directed by a master's hand : Eduardo Moraes was able to juggle multiple roles as a director, actor, screenwriter, producer and editor. It is obvious that Eduardo Moraes has a promising future in front of him & one's cannot wait to see what he has in store for us. As the catch phrase is saying : «We are all publishers and authors of our own story». So it is up to us to change; to regain a control over our lives. And you, what do you see in the viewfinder of your own life ?
