There are only a handful of story lines going on currently, and with each episode we get the slightest of twists which I'm sure could easily inspire conspiracy theories and fan-fiction up the wazoo. For example, more information comes out on Project Remington and for a moment you think that perhaps this big issue which has Cyrus on edge, may even give us clues in regards to Olivia's mom's death. I only say this though because Peter Foster was B6-13 and there is one plane trip unaccounted for and Olivia's mom died due to plane crash. However, just as you think you may have gotten something, you are quickly reminded you don't know much and that there is so much to tell.
In a way, Huck pretty much lays down the way the episode is to be seen. There are many questions, and there are answers, but the show isn't yet ready to divulge every bit of information available, at least just yet. But, continuing on the topic of Huck, he and Quinn continue to have an odd relationship where friendship is definitely established, but you are left unsure if she seems him like how Harrison sees Liv, or if maybe she might have feelings developing for the man who essentially saved her. Of course, Huck has other complications, outside of his personal life, since Jake and him seem to be having conversations. The type of conversations which can shake quite a few things up in the world. I won't spoil it for you though.
The main thing though that matters with "Say Hello To My Little Friend" is that Olivia is back to working cases, even if it is for sleaze ball senators who seems to be inspired by Anthony Weiner, which seem to matter toward the overall story of the show, and not just the episode. You see, once more Olivia is forced to face down a woman, the senator's wife, dealing with adultery, all the while having to practice slut shaming in order to try to defend her client. There is a bit of a struggle though for we see the many hats a woman wears as she tries to not only be good at her job, but be a role model, a good spouse and even an understanding human being. Watching Olivia interact with Shelley, the senator's wife, reminds you that Olivia, and Kerry Washington, perhaps has her best scenes with women. For though she can have a good face off with Cyrus and Fitz sometimes, she strips down bare and lets the cold D.C. air hit her skin when she speaks one on one with a woman. She doesn't have to wear the White Hat and represent all her roles, she can speak person to person, slightly without filter.
Unfortunately though, speaking person to person, or candidly, is something only Olivia seems to be good at. Mellie on the other hand makes a mess of things by talking down an up and coming congresswoman named Josephine Marcus, played by Lisa Kudrow, who though barely seen in the episode, is being setup to be the one to run against Fitz for his reelection. Of course though, Congresswoman Marcus isn't Fitz's only issue. Project Remington hangs in the air and as Cyrus freaks out, Fitz gets direct and things end with him visiting Eli at his office, making you wonder if perhaps Fitz could be a B6-13 agent himself, or someone who just so happens to be slightly familiar with a handful of former, or rather inactive, agents.
Overall, this was a very good episode and makes you slightly forget the last one. One thing though I didn't mention is how nice the intimacy, or acts of kindness, there are in this episode. I mentioned Olivia being bare to someone, usually women, but in this episode Jake somehow shows more tenderness and sweetness to Olivia than we ever got out of Fitz's lust; and Fitz himself, with Mellie, shows more kindness to her than we've seen perhaps ever. In a few moments after Cyrus chews Mellie out for a comment caught on microphone, Fitz acts like he is her husband and defends her, takes her hand and confuses Mellie to the point where you think for a second, despite Olivia and all their drama, perhaps these two were once in love. Well, at least Mellie was with Fitz. All this together though makes "Say Hello To My Little Friend" a progressive episode which may not have left me anxious for next week, but definitely has me interested in seeing where they may take things.
