Finally some proper VR original content!!
andrew-porto8 April 2024
I saw Eli Roth's previous attempt at VR horror (My Bloody Valentine) a few days ago, and although I enjoyed the experience, the story and acting left me with some sour aftertaste.

But scrolling through Meta Quest's suggestions I saw this new series, with the prefix "presented by Eli Roth", so I was curious to see if there were any improvements on the whole VR experience, now in a 6-episodes series format, with 25 minute-long episodes.

I did NOT get disappointed! I'm writing this after seeing the first episode, while there's only one other available, and I really enjoyed it.

The series is set in an Irish castle, which provides an amazing 3D experience. I caught myself looking around in some scenes, trying to find any ghostly movements in the shadows. The way it's filmed provides for one of the best immersive experiences I've had since buying the Quest 2.

The script (again: first episode only) is not the most important here, but it is entertaining and intriguing, and add to that some very decent acting to improve the experience and the immersive feeling. You really feel you're watching the story unfold right in front of you, and not on a movie screen. And that's what VR should be all about.

I can't wait to see all other episodes.

10/10 for the attempt and pushing boundaries

Ever since I got Quest 2, I have been thinking of how immersive movies will get in the future, using VR. We are finally there!

This is a TV series that is not just 3D but also immersive. It feels like we are watching the characters by standing beside them. The fact that this is a horror series and take places in a castle adds more depth, atmosphere and mystery to the plot.

I have only watched first 2 episodes and thought they were awesome. There weren't any loud sound effects and jumpscares (until episode 2.) Jumpscares in VR can be too scary, as it can feel real, so let's see how scary future episodes get. The acting is not top notch, but it is decent. The actress in blue jeans looks hot in VR.

I hope more movies and shows are created for VR watching.

This is cool!

This is exactly why I bought the Meta Quest 3. A truly immersive experience with a good story. I'm looking forward to the next episodes.

And I hope that this is not just a good demo but the beginning of a new era of entertainment where we truly feel part of the action.

The only downside is that with one VR headset at home you need to watch this in a queue instead of experiencing this together. But if this is the future, then I guess it will not take long until there will be more VR headsets laying around the house so everyone can join the party.

Nice one Meta. I hope I'll see more of this in the future!

Great experience so far!

Came upon it by chance and really liked the first two episodes! The sense of presence is magnified by the impeccable 3D environments, which are rich in detail and atmospheric lighting, creating a captivating backdrop that complements the storytelling. The stereotypical characters, while a drawback, don't detract from the overall experience. Instead, they add a layer of familiarity that helps viewers navigate through the fantastical elements with ease. The tension built within the castle's walls is palpable, making each moment spent in this immersive world both thrilling and unpredictable. Despite its early stages, this series shows promise, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating future episodes.

Definitely worth watching 3D VR series
djmattyb00714 April 2024
As one of the first mass market, movie quality 3D VR series, this is definitely worth watching. I really like the lighting, colours and camera angles that make the most of the 180 degree 3D VR format. I really hope this is the first of many more high quality 3DVR180 content. The sound is also very well done & best listened to with headphones.

So far 3 episodes have been released, out of 5 listed online. I don't know if there is more than 5, but that is all I can see at the moment.

I watched this on the Quest 3 in Meta TV app in best quality & its resolution is quite good. Now DEVOVR 8k quality but still good. I was hoping to see a BTS of this series online, but haven't found it yet.

Far from perfect, entertaining
pistodrake3 May 2024
The show itself is worth 6. 7 is for the technology and having a true show with a 180° screen in 3D.

The story is quite simple and hardly surprising. VR makes the cgi stands out (like litterally a wound is hovering over the skin at one moment). The actors aren't bad especially Staz Nair whose character is the most interesting and best impersonated but the others are far from outstanding. Nothing is really frightening or even explicit but the drama and rythm are nice. The castle is beautiful and being able to see more details thanks to VR is great. Special effects aren't that cheap but they seem very cheap in VR.

To me the biggest problem is the absence of subtitles. It already requires a headset to see it why not making it the most accessible possible by putting some french, asian language and other subtitles? It might fail to make success in part because of this. I hope they fix it soon but it's already a fault not to have them from the start. Worth to watch, entertaining and not long with that short length of episodes but would require more efforts to work i think.
