Elena calls Caroline at school. Caroline is brushing up on her biology to impress Dr. Maxfield, to learn why he covered up their roommate's murder-by-vampire. She goes to pick up Dr. Maxfield's TA, Jesse, to bring him to Remembrance Day back in Mystic Falls. She claims it's a "study date."
At the Grill, Stefan lusts after the waitress's pulsing jugular. Damon tries to explain why the "ripper thing" is a bad idea. When Elena shows up, Damon hasn't quite gotten to explaining who she is yet.
Bonnie drops in on Jeremy mid-workout. There's nothing she can do to get Stefan's memory back. He wants to tell everyone that she's dead.
Matt calls Jeremy, freaking out.
Jeremy goes to see him. Matt woke up last night with an ancient knife in his hand. He thinks something or someone is in his head. He wants Bonnie's help. Jeremy says she's in DC. Matt wonders why she hasn't responded to his 300 emails. He really needs Bonnie's help.
Back at the Grill, Elena wants to call Bonnie for help with Stefan, but Damon has already called her 10 times. Damon wants to let Stefan enjoy himself, but Elena worries the blood addiction is hardwired into him. They notice Stefan is nowhere to be seen, nor is the waitress.
Stefan compels the waitress to remain still in the back room and prepares to chomp down. Damon stops him.

In the cemetery during Remembrance Day, Jesse quizzes Caroline on bio. He asks if she invited him to prove something to her boyfriend.
"I don't know where my boyfriend is, that would require communication, and mutual interest and respect. And I invited you here because you're smart and you're nice and I just kind of wanted to hang out with you today," she says.
He kisses her. When she balks, he goes back to quizzing her.
Damon shows up back at his house. "I've been lying to everyone for months and I can't keep lying knowing that everyone's waiting for her to swoop in and save the day," Jeremy says.
"I don't speak crazy person , Jeremy. You're going to have to translate for me," Damon says.
Jeremy doesn't say it explicitly, but walks Damon through it, explaining that nature finds a balance. Damon begs Jeremy not to say it, since it'll change everything for Elena. Bonnie also begs him to not to go on, but he finally says Bonnie's dead.
Damon hugs him fiercely.
Elena takes Stefan to where she became a vampire and tells him the role he played, saving Matt instead. He tells her her distracting him is helping his urge to feed.
She tells him she was never afraid of him and they have a moment. She nearly kisses him, then stops short and says she's with Damon.
"Neither of you thought that was something I should know? And just like that, the hunger returns," he says.
He disappears.
Matt wakes up in his house with a cut on his hand. He checks the video cameras he has set up all over. He sees himself get up and answer the phone, then start speaking another language. He takes out the knife, then addresses the camera. "Hello, Matt Donovan. I am the passenger inside you. I know you have many questions, but all you need to know is that one day my friend will come looking for this blade," he says to himself.
He cuts his hand, saying if Matt doesn't keep it safe, the next cut will be on his throat.

Bonnie's ghost says they need it, and she does, too.
Bonnie tells Jeremy to tell them that even though they couldn't see her, she's been there the whole time. She's watched them have the summer of their lives. She saw them happy.
"I know you think now that you can't have a normal life, that you have to be here for everyone, but you don't. Everyone will find their way. You are going to repack your things, you're going to go back to college, and you're going to live it up," Bonnie tells Elena.
She tells Matt he didn't do anything wrong and she would have sent 300 emails back if she could.
"Caroline, I watched you decorate that dorm room like you're life depended on it," Bonnie says.
But Bonnie feels like something's missing.
She sees Tyler, Caroline runs to him.
"This is good, this is what I wanted. I'll be OK, we'll all be OK," Bonnie says. She takes Jeremy's hand.
Dr. Maxfield runs tests on Jesse back in his lab. He sees that Jesse has vampire blood in his system and guesses it was either because he was injured to the point of needing it to be healed, or because someone wants to turn him. He says the good news it's step one to turning him. Jesse has no idea what's going on. Dr. Maxfield proceeds with step two, and injects Jesse with something to kill him. Jesse flatlines.
