One of the best villains ever...
omnyenge30 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
At first, I assumed that The Originals would follow the same mundane storyline that has become the norm in The Vampire Diaries. But I am happy to say that I have been pleasantly surprised.

The show does have its slightly boring moments, but as a whole, I have so far been fascinated by the unexpected twists that the writers constantly come up with. At one moment, you are cursing Klaus and hoping that he suffers a very painful death, and the next you're cheering him on as he takes on a whole pack/coven of Vampires.

This episode in particular was one of the best ones yet. The villain, Papa Tunde, was both powerful and mysterious. And the ease at which he took down an original should have been reason enough to keep him around for much longer. I think the show could have done a lot more with him before deciding to get rid of him in the end. But my consolation is, if this is the kind of power that the first of the 4 resurrected witches/warlocks wields, then we can expect a lot more from the remaining three, plus the witch who brought them all back. This show has the potential to keep getting better every season.

My recommendation to anyone not watching The Originals is to start now before you regret your decision 3 seasons in.

Papa Tunde
vivianla10 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Klaus is informed of two vampires killed with weird chalk-like markings. He is determined to find the person who did this but Marcel is still grieving for Davina. Cami calls Sophie asking her to come to the bar to help with work but her voicemail is full. Marcel comes to the bar and grabs a drink. He tells Cami not to go after Klaus and tells her a story in the past of Papa Tunde who tried to. Two girls in beautiful white dresses run to the gathering around the fire. This Papa Tunde approached the witches and offered to help them in exchange for the title of leader of their coven. He throws the snake in the fire and explains he uses sacrificial magic to gain power. Four witches have come back from the dead instead of the four girls from the Harvest and Papa Tunde is one of them. Marcel waits for Sophie at the bar but then Papa Tunde himself shows up and tries to kill Marcel. Sophie explains to Klaus what the strange markings are as she drinks from a bottle. Elijah and Hayley found Rebekah in the warehouse after confronting Thierry and uses witch blood from the baby by cutting Hayley's wrist to get rid of the boundary as per Sophie's instructions by phone. Klaus comes to the rescue after getting a call from Cami but is overpowered by Papa Tunde. Thankfully the boundary disappears and Elijah carries Rebekah out, making Papa Tunde lose the Original's powers. Papa Tunde manages to escape. Klaus rounds up soldiers to take on Papa Tunde and Marcel is no longer moping now that Davina may be able to be brought back. Papa Tunde killed all the vampires in the garden and tells Celeste the knife holds their power. He gives Celeste the knife and allows her to cut his throat to sacrifice him.
