- Zapata el Gran Putas delves into the life of Colombian writer Manuel Zapata Olivella, exploring his diverse perspectives, adventures, and relationships with prominent intellectuals and black artists of the 20th century.
- This is a documentary feature film about the Colombian writer Manuel Zapata Olivella. His multiple ways to see the world, his adventures and his relationships with the most prominent intellectuals and black artists of the twentieth century, led him to the deep conviction that resistance, the struggle for freedom and solidarity were incubated in the horrors of the transatlantic crossing, circumstances that Africans faced trying to keep their gods and their languages as far as possible. Zapata traveled the world, not always in the most a comfortable way like any other tourist. He was determined to do so to discover and give meaning to his interests. Looking, listening, knowing their predecessors in that purpose. He sacrificed his role in his family and went down in history, surely believing that time would testify about his deed. This magical work will be the path by which the life of Zapata Olivella and the socio-cultural universe of the Afro presence in Colombia will be portrayed. Zapata Olivella contributed in the construction of an aesthetic and sociological imaginary of the black diaspora in the country.—Telepacífico
