The talented singer, songwriter and piano player, Jaz James joins Kimberly Q on The Red Booth to talk about her music. Jaz James' music can be described as an eclectic mix of indie pop, funk, blues and a touch of jazz with brutally honest lyrics. Some call it "soulful pop." Born in Los Angeles, Jaz was raised on The Beatles and as a young kid, she preferred listening to Motown and Stax over the 90's radio of her youth. At 19, her gypsy spirit moved her through Europe and India, performing with street musicians and artists. With those experiences and some heartbreak along the the way, Jaz took to the piano and began to write her own songs. In 2012, she recorded her first EP "World's Too Pretty" produced and engineered by Scott Smith (Grizzly Bear, Weezer, Jose Gonzales) at the Village Recorder in Santa Monica. She now performs her infectious melodies for her growing fan base across L.A, backed by a band of funky jazz players. She also has a regular live music night, "Soundcheck," at The Standard Hotel in Hollywood. So come enjoy some live music with us.
