Lame romance

Warning: Spoilers
"Bitter Sweet" is one of those storyline ("for couples") features gonzo fans like to hold up as an example of why they check the box marked "All-Sex" when filling out preference survey cards. Its sappy scenario, enacted by the numbers by a talented cast, is merely boring, so one has to agree that at this level the famous Warner Williams cry "Let's Go to the Videotape!" (his sports version of the cliché "cut to the chase") applies.

Blonde beauty Zoey Monroe (inexplicably nominated for an acting award by an Industry org that wouldn't know acting if Stella Adler took a dump on them) is the chief protagonist introduced the morning after, in bed with Logan Pierce due to her having gotten too drunk the night before.

Her boss Billy Hart appoints her personal manager to bad-boy model Xander Corvus, so we know that triangles and jealousies are about to happen. Especially because Logan is a fashion photographer.

Riley Reid is in the mix as a sexy young roommate. The love/hate relationship between Xander and Zoey, both of them given to drinking too much, is boring and predictable. Brightest talent in the film is Melody Jordan as a redhead who comes on to boss Hart resulting in sex. The trouble here is casting: Melody is a true find while Hart is a routine porn guy, ruining what could have been a great scene.

Resolution of Xander finally asking Zoey to go to bed with him is poorly set up. Zoey's vapid smile fits this stupid film -hey, that's worth giving her a Best Actress award! It's difficult to look that insipid for the camera!

A quickie finale to tie up the story's loose ends is almost fodder for classroom teaching on what not to do, both as screenwriter and as actor. Zoey and Melody's line readings are poor in this last reel, and final twist involving Riley and Xander doesn't fly. By the end of this pointless saga, the film's title doesn't fit at all.
