Unwatchable. Dumb American drama mixed with incompetent 'French' baking.
I watch baking shows to learn something and watch the best of the best bake beautiful desserts.
This show managed to find 12 incompetent bakers who were selected only because they could do that American intrigue nonsense.
Imagine whispering into a camera that you're hated by the rest of the group because you won the last competition. And her winning dessert was an inedible pile.
Watch the Great British Bakeoff. You'll learn how to make beautiful desserts, combine interesting ingredients, get great judging, and watch contestants cheer each other on. All without that dumb American drama that American shows seem to think is needed to make it interesting.

Weird Show
My roommate and I agree that the style is strange. It seems to be a food version of America's Next Top Model. I wonder if the producers were originally on ANTM. The idea of following the bakers into their personal lives outside the kitchen seems designed to force fake dramatic situations.
Some of the bakers seem to be more interested in showing off their own ideas than learning the techniques of the French baking masters. And what was with the episode where the bakers go into a shop "for inspiration "? We could almost hear the Project Runway producers saying "It's time to go to MOOD!" We will not be watching any future seasons.
