Back when I reviewed Purgatory Road I said it might be the film to finally put director Mark Savage over in the US market. Instead, he dropped off the map for four years. Now he and co-writer Tom Parnell back with Painkiller, a sequel to their 2016 dark comedy Stressed to Kill which I haven’t seen. That film featured Bill Oberst Jr. as Bill Johnson, a man who takes the doctor’s advice to get rid of stress a bit too literally and starts killing those who annoy him. In Painkiller, originally titled Stressed to Kill: Doctor’s Orders, he’s back, but his killing has a different focus.
Bill is a radio talk jock.

Even though Arnie’s 2025 version of Dutch has already made an appearance in Predator: Hunting Grounds, it looks like his iconic 1987-style portrayal will be added to Illfonic’s asymmetrical multiplayer shoot-’em-up in the very near future. And how exciting is that?
That’s right, according to the official PlayStation blog, the classic 1987-style Dutch playable character from the original movie will be launching in September. In other words, you’ll soon be able to play as your favourite burly mercenary and “Get To Da Choppa!” in true, authentic style. Unfortunately, though, the Dlc won’t be free for all players. Instead, this will be the fourth piece of paid Dlc that Illfonic has deployed for the game.
For more on how it’ll all work, here’s the rundown direct from the studio:
Just like Dutch 2025 you will get all the character lines voiced by the one and only.

Predator: Hunting Grounds players will be able to get their hands on some rather special Dlc later this month, developer IllFonic has revealed.
Available May 26th, star of the original film Arnold Schwarzenegger is confirmed to be reprising his role as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, a Vietnam veteran and mercenary that comes into contact with the titular extraterrestrial trophy hunter. Perhaps the most interesting detail revealed about the upcoming content, however, is that this depiction of Dutch won’t simply be lip service, but a canonical continuation of the character’s story following his face-off against the Predator in Central America.
That being the case, this version of the expertly-trained commando features an older, more up-to-date version of Schwarzenegger’s likeness and you can check out his in-game model below, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

Whether you’re a hardcore Yautja aficionado or just a lover of Arnie’s big biceps, it’s safe to say that John McTiernan’s beloved 1987 classic was a game-changer. From iconic quips (what the hell is a sexual Tyrannosaurus!?) to legendary cinematic one-on-ones (can we all just agree that Billy is the unsung hero of the entire gang?), Predator had it all.
It’s admirable, then, that Illfonic – the same studio who brought us 2017’s janky-but-fun Friday The 13th: The Game – recognized how uber cool the original 80’s sci-fi action flick was, and bravely sought to recapture the magic, look and feel of that specific film in their new title, Predator: Hunting Grounds.
While elements of their latest asymmetric multiplayer game do occasionally come together to provide some authentic hunt-‘em-up action, there are just way too many deep-seated problems that overshadow the entire experience for me to give any sort of wholehearted recommendation.

Four marines against an extraterrestrial big game hunter with a particular interest in humans might be at the core of what makes Predator: Hunting Grounds tick, but IllFonics’ latest asymmetrical multiplayer experience is far from a one-trick pony.
The central cat and mouse (who plays both roles will most definitely change during the course of any given match) formula is certainly enough of a gameplay hook on its own for fans of the films, of course, though the developer has thrown plenty of other gameplay elements into the mix in an effort to make each and every session play out in a non-linear fashion. Regardless of which side you find yourself on, victory can be achieved in a variety of ways, some of which are more rewarding than others.
Despite Arnie’s failure to do so in the classic 1987 film, the marines can, in fact, disarm the devastating bomb the...

Predator: Hunting Grounds, IllFonics’ latest multiplayer title following 2017’s Friday the 13th: The Game, is out now and has already established a core player base eager to test their wits against the human-hunting Yautja. As an asymmetrical affair, teamwork is the key ingredient to ensuring success; a strategy well worth adopting, considering the enemy you’re up against.
Make no mistake: you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a Plasma Caster barrage several times while learning the ropes, but perseverance is necessary if you’re going to learn how best to serve your squadmates in not only exercising awareness of your surroundings but escaping from each and every Predator encounter with a head still firmly attached to your shoulders.

Predator: Hunting Grounds, the cat-and-mouse first-person shooter developed by IllFonic, has a new gameplay trailer for fans to fawn over ahead of launch later this week.
Similar to the studio’s work on Friday the 13th: The Game, Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical affair that pits a team of four human mercenaries against the titular extraterrestrial threat in a winner-takes-all fight for survival. As is so often the case with 4v1 experiences, players can expect the outnumbered party (the Predator in this instance) to have access to a number of powerful abilities and weapons to even the odds, with all the hallmarks one would expect from the films at your disposal to ensure those pesky mercenaries never achieve their objective.
As for the fireteam eager to keep its collective limbs on the other end, they’ll undoubtedly be outmatched in terms of technology and sheer physical strength, meaning co-ordination and...

No, your eyes don’t deceive you – Arnold Schwarzenegger is making his return to the Predator franchise. Well sort of, anyway.
Following the release of box office flop The Predator back in 2018 (for which Arnie turned down an offer to appear), it’s unlikely that 20th Century Fox will be revisiting the franchise anytime soon on the big screen, but video games? Well, according to Schwarzenegger, there’s one in development right now and the action star is even lending his iconic voice to the project.
Revealing the news during Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio earlier this month, he said:
The other day Predator came on, and I said to my girlfriend, “Let’s watch the beginning.” And we ended up watching the whole thing because it still held up today. Other movies don’t hold up, but movies like Predator and the first Terminator really hold up, and...

New footage for Final Fantasy VII Remake, as well as Monster Hunter: World‘s gorgeous looking Iceborne expansion were two of the delights on show, but the hype train didn’t pull into the station there. Oh no.
By complete surprise, the platform holder dedicated 60 seconds of air time to revealing IllFonic & Black Tower Studios’ latest project, Predator: Hunting Grounds. Predator: Hunting Grounds looks to revive the unique multiplayer of Evolve. Here's everything we know about the game...
There's a new Predator game in development, and it looks surprisingly similar to the failed game from the Left 4 Dead team, Evolve. Predator: Hunting Grounds is about what you'd expect if you're at all familiar with Evolve and the Predator franchise. If you don't fall into that camp, then know that it's a game where a team of players controls a squad of soldiers (the exact size of the soldier team hasn't been revealed) as they work their way through the jungle and attempt to kill another player controller the Predator who is hunting them down.
Based on other entries into this subgenre, you can bet that the soldiers will be heavily armed but will likely be fairly vulnerable. The Predator, meanwhile, will certainly come to the fight with his array of high-tech tools,...

Skull & Bones looks like an epic pirate adventure title with some intense ship battles. We have information on the beta and so much more, right here.
Today, during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft showcased Hunting Grounds, the new PvPvE (player-versus player-versus-environment) content for Skull & Bones, its upcoming online naval game set within the vast Indian Ocean. Skull & Bones will be releasing in 2019 on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC.
Hunting Grounds transports players into a shared PvPvE world where they can sail alone or as part of a pirate gang while looting lucrative trade routes, encountering powerful empires and battling brutal pirate rivals, all while surviving the treacherous ocean itself. Ubisoft showed off more of its upcoming pirate game “Skull & Bones” at its E3 2018 press conference on Monday.
Ubisoft Singapore creative director Justin Farren took the stage to introduce a new PvPvE mode called Hunting Grounds, where players can sail the Indian Ocean to hunt merchant ships, loot trade routes, and sink enemy vessels either solo or as part of a pirate gang. It will be available alongside Disputed Waters, “Skull & Bones'” dedicated PvP multiplayer mode. Here, a team of five will fight rival gangs over riches and make off with the treasure before deadly pirate hunters track them down. The game will also include something called Deadly Encounters, which Ubisoft will talk more about at a later date.
The essence of “Skull & Bones” is a shared world where every player matters, Farren said. It’s reactive and evolving. Fortunes can reveal changes in factions, weather, and trade routes. Favorable...

Horror movie monsters don’t get much goofier than the Sasquatch. Sure, Bigfoot is a legitimate part of American folk legend/mythology, but The Missing Link doesn’t exactly inspire fear or terror, no matter how good the ape suit is. Some brave directors have tried, mind – most notably Eduardo Sanchez, with his found footage feature Exists – but we’re a long way off from a definitive, and good Bigfoot feature.
Latest – of a very small queue – to step up to the bat is John Portanova, with his mostly serious Hunting Grounds (or Valley of the Sasquatch to go by its sillier but better title, by which is is known on UK DVD too). Will Smith is waisting no time rebounding from the dismal reviews of “Suicide Squad.” This December, the actor partners up with “The Devil Wears Prada” director David Frankel for a drama that puts a new spin on the iconic “It’s A Wonderful Life,” or at least that’s what the inspirational debut trailer is selling.

John Portanova’s award-winning “Hunting Grounds” (formerly known as “Valley of the Sasquatch”) is some real worst-case scenario horror, as it centers on a father and son who must contend with an angry clan of Bigfoot. Not just one Bigfoot, and not even a particularly happy one, but a whole mess of pissed off Sasquatch.
The winner of Best Sci-Fi Horror Film at the 2015 Toronto Independent Film Festival is now set for release thanks to Uncokr’d Entertainment, finally allowing more Bigfoot-crazed cinephiles to see what happens when the furry monsters stop being polite and start getting real.

With my first Siff now in the books, I can say that I’ve learned some valuable lessons. The first being what a remarkable festival and diverse program the organizers came up with for the 41st edition. From the venues to the volunteers, everything was top notch. Like most festivals, it was a bit front-loaded with premieres, but there were also notable premieres later in the program, including Max Landis’ Me Him Her on the closing weekend. From top to bottom, this was a great line-up with very few thin spots.
The other major lesson I learned is that it’s impossible to adequately cover a film festival in the city in which you live. Family, friends, and full-time jobs don’t simply disappear just because you want to have some fun. I come away feeling disappointed that time constraints kept me from seeing a lot of great films, as...

Holy cats! Ol’ Jeremy Berg, the creator of s–t hot new Sci-Fi thriller The Device (a review of which is comin’ soon to this very website, so begin tremblin’ in anticipation right now!) just stumbled on in to the Crypt o’ Xiii!
Famous Monsters. Ya took the brainy approach on The Device, while most flicks in the alien abduction vein tend to go a bit “o’er tha top”, so to speak. Did this cause you any static?
Jeremy Berg. I really wanted to tell a story that was driven by the characters. The genesis of the idea was a simple concept: two sisters find an object in the woods that may or may not be of earthly origin. It was very simple but had a lot of potential. From there, we could explore how this object changes the characters and their relationships with one another.
