Pretty decent, except of this one thing ..

Well, how should I start ?

I think this was a great documentary. I found it on German Netflix, knowing nothing at all about a real existing "Quidditch scene" and by the end I was really excited to watch the teams in the tournament.

In my opinion it doesn't only represent the sport itself, but most importantly the passion everyone involved has !

Whereas this brings me to the biggest flaw in the movie. I think the Harry Potter fandom girl, which is shown quite a few times, didn't matched the rest of the movie. These are two very different scenes, and I really can't say that she was in any way useful to represent the sport, even if she has (maybe a little bit too much) passion for Harry Potter.

I would recommend the movie to everyone who has at least a bit interest in Harry Potter, or was part of an amateur sports team once, since it really catches the tournament feeling you get, when you're playing for your team.

8/10 :)

Great film!! Very interesting, informative and fun!

Harry Potter fan or not, this film is really interesting and informative about the new sport that is expanding throughout colleges all over the world. Being a Harry Potter fan, i was already familiar with the game but they do a great job of explaining how to play. Just because the sport is based off of a fictional book, doesn't mean it is dumb or easy. This game is co-ed and a contact sport, as they show in the film, therefore it's not just fans who are participating in the game. I used this film for an English documentary assignment and I ended up getting really into it, now looking for colleges I check to see if they have a Quidditch team so I can give this fun sport a try.

Great Representation of Quidditch
themunchkym21 November 2014
As someone who is part of the quidditch community, this movie is extremely exciting to watch. It is also very approachable for non- players because it explains the rules and accurately follows the struggles and excitement that quidditch teams regularly face such as fundraising, paying their own money toward their team, and criticisms. Alex Benepe's speech at the beginning of World Cup made me tear up a little bit because I definitely relate to that.

The biggest problem that I had with it was definitely the random Harry Potter fan. She doesn't have anything to do with quidditch and the Harry Potter fandom and quidditch community are extremely separate. The whole time she is on the screen I am just confused and taken aback. I feel that they definitely could have spent some time looking at other aspects of the sport that I felt was inaccurately used on the fan and I honestly wish I could get a version of the movie that did not include the fan.

Overall it is extremely well produced and edited and the graphics, music, and angles very appropriately enhance the experience. Definitely recommend!

Dorky & Delightful!

By far the dorkiest movie I've ever seen and I love it!

This movie follows the UCLA Quidditch team's journey to the fifth annual Quidditch World Cup which was held in New York.

I literally can't stop grinning throughout this movie. If you've watched Free To Play before, you'll get the exact same feeling, same excitement and joy, from watching this.

This is more than just a documentary about a bunch of potterheads playing Quidditch, This is about giving your everything when you're doing something you love and be proud about it.

This should be in the Olympics!

To anyone who loves Harry Potter and sports this is the documentary for you. I had no idea that their were legit sport players of quidditch and so passionate about what they do. This should be in the Olympics. I think the documentary filmmaker did a god job capturing the raw stories of the different players and fans of Harry Potter stories. It was exciting and fascinating all the way through. It make me want to sign up to start playing. Well-done film!
