Read More: Watch Jordan Firstman's Hilariously Mean Short Film 'The Disgustings' In "Sold," actor, writer and director Jordan Firstman plays Neil Tate, a smug young screenwriter who has just sold his first script and who drives up north to escape Los Angeles and to "get out of show business for a while -- not like get out of it, but stop talking about it." Ironically, Neil does nothing but talk about show business, bragging about his new success to everyone he meets (all played by non-actors), from his waiter, to a few empathetic kids riding their bikes, to some folks at a yard sale. "It's kind of like a '21 Jump Street' meets 'Sideways,'" he tells his utterly disinterested motel keeper. The only person he rejects is the only person who displays any interest in his success -- a fellow "scripter" named Des, whose checkered flannel matches our protagonist's.
