John Shaw and Geoffrey Evans were a lesser known killer couple. In 1974, wanted for sex crimes in their native England they hopped across the sea to the Irish Republic where they attempted to make a living off crime. They were not successful, and ended up being arrested. When the British authorities learned of their arrest, they filed for extradition, but due to the political situation at the time, this did not happen. The result was the horrific rape and murder of two young women.
After their conviction, they were released from prison and, it is said, decided to murder a woman a week. As you would. Fortunately, they would only get as far as two victims; it was luck as much as good detective work that led to their being put in the frame for the two missing girls.
This documentary has a slightly unusual format; it is seen initially through the eyes of the two killers themselves, and includes interviews with some of those involved in the hunt, now far from young men. It ends rather abruptly, but the two were convicted and given life sentences. Evans died the same year it was released after more than three years in a coma. As they had only two (known) victims they were technically not serial killers, but that was due more to good luck than design.
