I want my 42mins of my life back!!!
nuong-thiu5 December 2013
This show was woeful. The thinking behind the program must of been developed by a preschooler. Seriously if you are trying to entice Jack the Ripper would you not dress up in his period clothes and the female team member/ actress was so clueless - "I am cheap/ free". Half way through the reality show I was hoping it was a B rated horror movie where the villain put them all out of their misery. What a waste of time and materials.

Funny how the 120+ unsolved mystery of Jack the Ripper could be solved by inexperienced college like Americans. Their expert panel and interviews were a laugh. I don't usually write reviews but after watching the program I strongly felt it was my duty to deter possible futures views from making my mistake.

All They're Missing Is Scooby Doo

How does crap like this get aired? Like other reviewers, I thought this was actually a tongue-in-cheek parody of the typical, lame "paranormal" show. It's not.

They - sadly - mean every ludicrous, hammed-up, over the top moment to be taken seriously. How anyone in the cast can keep a straight face when they look at one another and not burst out laughing, I don't know.

It's actually embarrassing - when I realized that they mean it and are serious, I was so embarrassed for them that I had to change the channel.

UNWATCHABLE

Seriously?

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what this was about. My jaw dropped during some parts of it and I don't know really what to say because it was RIDICULES! I didn't mind the "tech guru" because he seemed like he at least had some idea of what he was doing, but when they started "naming people" such as "the front man," "the role player..." I was like "you have got to be kidding" and for a short time thought it might be a mockumentary or something The Onion would come up with. There are a lot of paranormal reality shows on and a few of them I quite enjoy because it is talking about an experience that happened to them and you can see the actual people and hear their story, Paranormal Witness is good one. However, when the one guy, "the antagonizer" started yelling at air, I thought it might be a student promo film of some sorts because yelling at air seemed a bit asinine. Then when the "role player" (?) started to act like one of the victims, I nearly fell out of my seating laughing because it was so STUPID. All of the fancy names they wanted to give themselves, for whatever reason, just make the show more of a joke that no one can take it seriously or even attempt to. I have watched Ghost Adventures and thought they were real cheesy with some of the stuff they do, but this is nothing but cheese through and through. I don't know if they were actors or what because it is hard to take this as a real show based in reality when the ones doing the show are so idiotic in what they do, such as screaming and daring the spirit to come out of hiding as if they will pop up and say "Oh, hi, I will be there in a minute, want a sandwich while you wait?" I mean, come on, even I can act better than that. Oh, and the "role player" acting like one of the victims is a terrible insult to the victims of Jack the Ripper. If I would have been told about this show, I would have thought someone was messing with me but you can't make this crap up.

This show seems so fake that I would not be surprised if on the next episode they come out and say "GOTCHA!" Do yourself a favor, if you are interested in the paranormal or supernatural, don't watch this show. I would call it two guys that seem to know something about what they are doing and two guys and a chick who are complete imbeciles.

The Worst Yet!
broylesbeth11 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This show is absolutely ridiculous! I wish I could give it less than one star. I want to give it negative stars. At least Destination Truth was interesting and the host was amusing. These people get to travel to all these awesome locations and all they do is act like a bunch of Jack bags. This is the most laughable "Ghost Hunter" show yet. In the last episode the team went to find out if Vlad the Impailer is an actual vampire. Seriously? "The antagonizer" screamed and swore to draw out Vlad and it made me think of a child throwing a tantrum. So far in every episode they have to find some reason for the girl in the group to role play to draw out the ghost. In the first episode she dressed like a modern day prostitute in order to get Jack the Rippers attention. The camera focused on her legs for most of the act. If the intent was to get Jacks attention and not the male viewers why wouldn't she be wearing a dress from his era? I could go on and on but it's just easier to never watch this show again and hope that syfy gets a clue and jumps off the ghost bandwagon.

Watched two episodes: regret my life choices
patrickjames131311 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I watched two episodes of this garbage show. Jack The Ripper and Vlad the Impaler. I fell asleep during the Jack The Ripper episode, but the one part I remember is that one of the kids claimed he was talking with one of the ripper's victims named Annie Chapman, but he kept referring to her as Amy Chapman. As far as the Vlad the Impaler episode goes, I didn't know that Vlad and his wife spoke English in life, but they both seem to understand it now that they are dead. When I die, I want to learn Swedish first. Honestly, this is so stupid it isn't even funny. Usually I can laugh at these shows and how daft some people truly are, but this is so irritating it makes the viewer want to smash their TV set. The funniest part of the show is the airhead girl tries role playing games to bring out the spirits (look forward to her next role as waitress at a truck stop) and the tough guy character that yells at all the spirits and demands they come out before he gets mad. Vlad killed hundreds of thousands of people as a flesh and blood human being, but now that he is some undead being/ghost he is going to be frightened by some goof yelling at him. Please skip this unless you like to torture yourself.

Just Sad
bigkeefer-dg27 December 2013
This show is nothing but a joke, and a slap in the face to anyone who investigates actual paranormal events. If you are going to dump money away into the production of such CRAP, i invite you to send it to my wallet instead.(it will be better used) Please Cancel and burn any thing related to this disaster-piece. Paranormal Witness is interesting enough, and really the only paranormal show to watch on SYFY. The rest i have found to be half witted. If you are going to try and actually prove some of the unsolved things that happen on this spinning rock, and prove or disprove the idea of life after death... Than why not come through with an actual EFFORT at doing so, instead of sending cheesy, lame, amateurs to run around and play dress up and arts and crafts.

Amateur Paranormal Team and Waste of Time/Life to watch
jmbentzinger11 December 2013
I was honestly excited about the show at first, it didn't take long for them to ruin that. I won't go into detail you can watch the show for yourself and form your own opinion. But things to look for: Absolute Horrid Camera Crew.... even though there's five of them AND cameramen and yet they see things all the time but never get visual evidence (epic fail), Conclusion Jumping...they get an emf spike and form these crazy conclusions on who it is and what they want in a matter of seconds, Evidence Review...they hardly repeat the electronic voice phenomenons so the audience can listen several times and if they do their listening skills are extremely poor (they make words and phrases out of them that sound nothing like the evps). Bottom line is this an absolute amateur investigation crew and they have no idea what they're doing. Ignorance is bliss in their case.

Bad, Bad, Bad
fangfan120 December 2013
Being an enthusiast for paranormal shows, I was looking forward to watching this show, and then I saw it....

Where to start. The team members and their roles is juvenile - in particular the "aggressor" - insert eye roll.

Like others have said before me - isn't it miraculous that a Romanian ghost can understand English and modern technology. Especially when they said "head towards the antenna".... Hang on a sec - would a ghost from the 1400's understand an invention that was made in the late 1800's. I suppose it doesn't matter, no speak English.

The other thing that annoys me is they have all these gadgets - emf, night cameras - but they can't take a temperature gauge to prove that "it's getting colder in here". Slack investigating.

I cannot take this show. It is poorly executed. If you are into paranormal shows - don't waste your time on this one. Watch paint dry in stead - at least that would be less irritating.

Would be better if....
g-delgado91218 December 2013
I like the show and understandably they're trying to investigate using different techniques. However, I believe the show would be better if they didn't have a group meeting every time they found evidence. It ruins the investigation and their experience with those interruptions. Why would you want to leave an area so abruptly when things are getting good? Also it would also help if Molly the role player would keep calm and stop freaking screaming! She makes it hard to hear if anything is actually going on and it's really annoying. Why can't she be like the girls on Ghost Hunters? Calm, collected, and professional. Get a hold of yourself Molly!

Waste of Time
moura-c18 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews, but I have to contribute with my view on this one to make sure crap like this is not released on air any more. I actually feel bad for all talented directors, writers and journalists out there that do not get an opportunity like this. Also all the money wasted on this that could be helping people in misery out there.

Please note that every time they show the "spectrum reader", there is a camera pointing steady at it. They never show the meter moving live. Obviously someone was forcing that meter with a magnet or something and edited on the video at the right time.

I gave it a 2 rating mainly because they chose an interesting topic, with some names and pictures from that from the 1880's, but apart from that, it is a typical sensationalist and childish approach.

Let's find out who is part of the crew with mommy or daddy banking the show or with a very solid connection in the media(or debt from another previous fu..ck up :).

Waste of my time.

A little cheesy put actually pretty good evidence!
ironbridgeart29 September 2020
Jack Osbourne said it best, there really is nothing sexy about the "Ghost Shows." Agreed, these are a little cheesy but this show actually captured some compelling evidence!

Oh Dear
davidcarmichael1711 July 2014
There are some interesting aspects to the show, but it is quite unprofessional and done on the cheap. But to be fair watch other shows pertaining to the paranormal and make up your own mind.

The subject matter they cover are note worthy and it is worth doing some research from different sources to grasp the subject they are attempting to investigate. Also some of the individuals in the show need to use more equipment to get results other shows have used some pretty interesting technology and obtained some very interesting results, it is just a pity that a show doesn't use all the devices on every subject they are investigating, that would provide valuable evidence and insight.

Seriously...This Idea Got Past The Suits To Become A Show???
AudioFileZ15 April 2016
As a kid did you think Johny Quest was cool? If you did, and you didn't grow out of it, you might think the show Killer Contact is right up your alley. Perhaps it's the fantasy job you projected yourself in after a few too many views of Ghostbusters.

What I'm getting at that Killer Contact is simply a travelogue paranormal (a pure entertainment that's not particularly entertaining), show built around ghost busting. The only real thing is that these shows are usually built around historic crimes or dead people involved in historic crimes...the rest veers into, sorry if you're wholly invested, fiction with more than just a dollop of silliness. These guys on the Killer Contact Team make sure they solve mysteries by their extremely clunky "high tech" investigations. It all reeks of stuff concocted and made up for the show.

If I was an 8-year old pubescent kid I would probably think this is the coolest thing. I'm not, it ain't, and I don't see this going too many episodes and certainly not a second season. As for one who has thought shows like Paranormal Witness do some serious reporting as well as entertainment in the paranormal field this show just seems juvenile…slick, but ridiculous.

Unintentionally Hilarious
kolchak2525 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy watching shows about ghost hunting and will watch any show at least once. These shows are about entertainment but either the teams are forced to state ridiculous things are proof of ghosts, or they're just ready to accept anything as proof. My comments are regarding the episode about Vlad the Impaler.

This show it so silly I'm not sure where to start. Each team member is designated with a title - Point Man, Tech Guru, Brain, Role Player, and Antagonizer. The only female on the team is designated the Role Player, which seemed really sexist until I watched her in action. You can't take her seriously because she screams every single time something happens.

Then there's the Tech Guru, who comes up with essentially a tray (for the equipment) with ropes attached to lower it down into a 100 foot well to see if there's anything going on down there (which apparently there wasn't since it wasn't mentioned again). Seriously, do you really need a tech guy for that? There's nothing technical about it.

And the Antagonizer? The guy is screaming at nothing, trying to get a reaction from Vlad. Yes, I'm sure that Vlad, a man who killed perhaps 100,000 people, is going to be intimidated by some frat boy screaming at him. Also Vlad, his wife and victims did not speak English, so how did they learn it after they die? If he were still around, he would not understand anything the Antagonizer was screaming.

And how do they not know that Vlad had a wife named Ilona? Do they not do any research or even look up the castle/Vlad on the internet? Yet as soon as they know her name, they are able to locate and investigate her room?

They need to have some skepticism about any so called evidence that they find. This is an old castle made of stone. Yet every noise is proof of Vlad (or someone) haunting the place, and elicits a scream from the Role Player girl. Yeah, it must be supernatural because pieces of stone in a centuries old castle couldn't crumble or fall. And birds couldn't possibly fly into a window. And you'd hear something if it fell to the ground (even though the windows are closed and you're several hundred feet off the ground).

I really hope they didn't write their own intro which states their "... mission is to solve the world's most enduring crimes and mysteries," and that when something happens "...this rapid response team moves in." Really? Please tell me they don't really believe they are solving centuries old crimes and mysteries, or that their scheduled visits are a rapid response.

I may watch this again for the unintentional comedy, but not for any valid ghost hunting experiences.

Good not Great
boozeandboos29 September 2020
Pretty good evidence but it felt over produced. Some of these shows just need to take a step back and let the organic fear hold the attention of the audience.

I really liked this show!
theoddsfilm29 September 2020
Such a shame that they didn't get a chance at a follow up season. This was a great idea for a paranormal show. "Using the dead to find answers." It seems like there aren't as many clever ideas anymore.

I usually don't like Ghost Shows but the history was fascinating.
mrmuleday29 September 2020
The first season to a series is never going to be great unless it's a big budget scripted series. But they did a nice job touching on the history and some of their paranormal findings were fascinating. And they did name Aaron Kosminski as Jack the Ripper years before DNA evidence concluded that he was in fact the killer. So that's pretty interesting!
