First off, clearly the writers want the show to get back to normal as soon as possible for they rush through Jenna getting forgiveness by simply having her call Ming and Tamara, get chewed out, and then getting on friend probation. Of which, naturally, she breaks. But, before we rush into that, let us talk about the changes going on. First off, let's get Ming out of the way.
As I noted in the last episode, something is up with the Asian Mafia and seemingly what will happen is them disbanding. Maybe due to Ming's inspiration, they are now integrating, and unless this is to gather secrets, I'm pretty sure the Asian Mafia is over. What makes this bad though, is you can already see Ming's character devolving into what she was before she became head of the Asian Mafia. For example, as of now she seems she is becoming Tamara's sidekick, and potentially a third wheel. The reason I say this is because as Jake and Tamara snuggle, after a party at Matty's, Ming is sleeping on Jake's leg.
Which leads us to talking about Jake and Tamara's relationship. In a way, it seems like the writers are finally going to develop Jake a bit by making it so he isn't such a big push over anymore. Being that he is with an assertive woman like Tamara, and he feels sometimes emasculated by her, he is finally understanding that he needs to be more vocal about his own feelings if he doesn't want to be ran over. However, though they are fighting, you still see the chemistry as they finish each other's sentences during an argument over Jenna kissing Jake.
Which is how she messes up her probation. You see, on Jenna's way to redemption, though mostly smooth, she ends up seeing Matty hook up with this girl named Hunter and this lead her to drinking a little bit. Then she spots Jake, reminisces about their relationship, and ends up kissing him. Now, you'd think this would lead to a huge blow up, but Tamara seems sort of unfazed fully by it. For, in the scene, she sort of takes it as Jenna still recovering from being a screw up and she lets it slide. But, though we are led to believe that perhaps they may deny the inevitable Matty & Jenna end game, they in fact more so say to wait a little longer.
But, before we end this review we must speak of the girl Matty hooked up with and, possible new character, Bailey. Hunter is one of Mr. Hart's former students and seemingly deflowered a lot of guys during her senior year, including Matty. It isn't clear though if she maybe long term, or if this episode will be the first and last. As for Bailey, she is a sugar sweet girl who I'm not sure what they may do with her. The reason Jenna befriends her is because she got Valerie fired, so she decided to play counselor for a session, and being that Bailey is a freshman, I'm not sure if they are setting things up so maybe she takes over the show, maybe she is going to become a new friend for real, or if she may end up just causing drama. Either way, she seems cool as of now.
Overall, this was a pretty good episode, which even featured Sadie getting some action out of Austin. The only thing I disliked however was Jenna going from being shunned when Tamara was at her darkest moment, as of late, to her being put on "probation" seemed a little quick. I get that watching her plead and get told off may not be the most interesting thing, when I think about it, but still after all Jenna did, you'd think her life wouldn't revert back to normal shenanigans so quickly. Admittedly though, I am glad old Jenna is back, with a few touch ups.
