In Long Beach, California, school bus driver Perma Jean Pritchett inquires about a hit man to eliminate her husband, Charles, a minister at a local church. But when police uncover the plot and inform the preacher, he agrees to help them trap his wife, allowing detectives to photograph him "playing dead" in a downtown parking lot. Then, they bring Pritchett to the scene - and videotape her reactions. "This is going to sound really cold and it hurts," Versie Jackson, a 59-year-old grandmother, tells an undercover detective in a Tavares, Florida hotel room, "but there's nothing I can do about it." As investigators listen from an adjoining room, they're shocked as Jackson talks about murdering a number of witnesses against her son in a child molesting case. Among the targets: Jackson's ten-year-old granddaughter.
