- There is a hidden tie in the game called "Hen-Tie" depicting a hen with the description "I've seen enough Hen-Ties to see where this is going" Hentai is a form of Japanese anime pornography. It is not explicit, and is played for laughs, and you would only understand it if you knew what hentai was in the first place.

- If the players loses, the screen simply gets covered with purple splats and the level will continue as normal.

- In a short extra level, "Dad Romance," there are frequent references to "juice" (in quotes) that is supposed to resemble wine. You even make "juice" by stomping on grapes. Optional level.

- While the game is kid-friendly. This is one of those games that children may find themselves overwhelmed or frustrated by due to it's complex gameplay.

- Some implied cartoon violence, such as Octodad being turned into sushi whenever he is caught by the Chef, and being eaten by a Hammerhead shark if he is caught by one in the tank level.
