Prom night is upcoming, as is the season finale. Does this mean Jenna will get her old life before season's end?

Warning: Spoilers
So, in one of Awkward's first official hour episodes, as opposed to doing two episodes back to back, quite a bit happens which seemingly finishes undoing a lot of what has thus far happen. Starting off, Ming loses her position as leader of the Asian mafia and Jenna seemingly is about to be Matty's again. Also, after being suspended, Valerie is back in the saddle thanks to unlikely support.

First, let's start with Ming. The whole Asian Mafia storyline has been, interesting though in comparison to how Tamara developed and Jenna, more so changed than developed, you must admit the story was sort of weak overall. Ming simply became less of this come and go secondary character and a stronger sidekick to Tamara. And really, them dropping Ming from the Mafia and reinstating Becca is very much like how they reverted Jenna. It was done quick, sort of sloppy, but seemingly it had to be done. One good thing that did come from this though was that we finally get to see Ming and Fred as a couple, something missing thus far. After all, outside of looking at each other, a few lines, and then making out, we have seen not much in the way of chemistry between the two. However, post-cope d'état we see them being playful, cute and having the type of moments we have gotten to see in Tamara's relationship and Jenna's relationships.

Leading us to talk about the big relationship of the show: Matty and Jenna. As we have seen, Matty had his rebounds and now seemingly is getting back to being friends with Jenna, but with prom coming around it seems like the reset button is going to be pushed and her infidelity will just be a bump, right? Wrong! You see, Jenna's story may have been reset, but her karma hasn't. Even with her helping Valerie get her job back, even after being told to go **** herself, and getting Sadie to help in this mission, karma still things she owes. So, in what surely is a major blow, Matty lets Jenna know that Jenna's newest friend Bailey is the one he wants to take to the prom. Making me wonder why? Is it to be nice to her, since she is pretty green and high school thus far has been hell, or does this nearly 18 year old boy have something for a girl who is likely 3+ years younger?

Overall, though I still feel like Matty and Jenna are end game, I must admit the more Bailey gets developed as a character, I feel like they are setting something interesting up for next season. Be it Bailey gets a strong enough focus to maybe have Awkward pull a Skins, or if perhaps she may get a bigger role than Ming, who knows. Either way, it was a good enough episode that it sort of makes you wonder if Awkward could pull off doing an hour show. But then I think of how the quality dropped this season with 20 episodes, so I doubt they could in fact pull it off.
