This was a nice movie. If you like cozy mysteries you will like this one. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 3/2/2021

I was feeling generous

The good: Cameron Mathison and a mystery that doesn't feature a murder. The bad: most of the rest. While the actors were fine in their roles, they weren't given much with which to work. The preposterous plot is worthy of a Cussler novel, which means it's convoluted at best when squeezed into a hour. Factual errors were at least one per segment. The editing in of unnecessary and unrelated flashbacks tended to make things confusing. It's quite obvious why this did not become a series.

My ridiculous Gal Sunday
TheLittleSongbird17 August 2023
Personally have no bias against the Hallmark murder/crime mysteries, as there are some decent ones out there (whether part of their numerous mystery series or not). Cameron Mathison is nearly always watchable and more, even in the films of his that are not good. Hallmark's Movies and Mysteries block has always varied every year and expectations actually weren't high for the first 2014 Hallmark Movies and Mysteries film 'My Gal Sunday', with it sounding so far fetched.

My low expectations were not only met with the execution 'My Gal Sunday' but it managed to be worse than expected. Even Mathison can't save this. 2014 did see some good Hallmark films like 'A Ring By Spring', but also some real stinkers. Of which 'My Gal Sunday' is one of them and one of the worst of them. There are also some good Hallmark Movies and Mysteries films, though more the films with more serious themes and family dilemmas than the crime mystery ones, but 'My Gal Sunday' again is among the worst.

The only good thing about it is the scenery, which is very nice.

Sadly pretty much wasted by some really chaotic and self-indulgent camera work and drab lighting. Matthison looks ill at ease and his performance is lifeless, while Rachel Blanchard tries too hard and started to irritate later on. The chemistry between them is completely bland and found their initial scenes forced. The rest of the performances are a mix of ham overdose and mailing it in in silly stereotypical roles. The direction is unfocused and lacks energy.

Really disliked all the characters, ones with no personality, very vague at best motivations and who behave so outrageously. Especially the responsible. Furthermore, the script is both mundane and contrived, with everything feeling flat and unnatural. The cheese is also too much. The premise is very far fetched and beyond stupid to begin with and the story is wildly implausible and silly with no energy or tension.

As well as very dully paced, what would have solved that problem actually would have been having less of the flashbacks. They were not really needed actually, confused the structure and a few were irrelevant. The ending is beyond insulting and makes one feel like their IQ has been lowered, that is a terrible thing to feel watching something.

In summary, really bad. 2/10.

Snore Feast

Boring show no chemistry between the two leading characters. They seem to be just saying words not revealing any emotions at all. Realize that they are soap opera stars but good grief even some of they can act. There is more chemistry and emotion between the father and son-in-law than in any one else. I am trying to get thru the rest of the show but I find myself getting bored and I start to play games on my tablet instead of watching the show. The very beginning was not plausible, bringing a convicted prisoner to a home residence to reveal the real killer just wouldn't happen. The male actor was goofy and the female actress just can't act at all. The kidnapping was pathetic, the couple sat there in a stupor and then when they awaken they are all huffy and confrontational and arrogant. Let's face it if you were kidnapped would you be arrogant. Then above all else they call the President of the United States for help as if he would have the time to do anything to help. After all the previews I have seen prior to the show I was looking forward to seeing a good who done it, but this isn't it.

Younger version of Hart to Hart
jfarms195626 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
My Gal Sunday is a movie that might appeal to those between 18 and 40. It is a crime fighting drama. Cameron Mathison seems to act very little in this movie. Actually, overall, I found the acting poor; the plot weak; the drama barely there; and a high predictability of the outcome. I think the crime fighting couple is supposed to be a younger version of Hart to Hart. Seen it. Done it. At least with Hart to Hart there was good acting and plots. This is a filler movie. Fills the time and provides very light entertainment. I would like to see Cameron Mathison in something other than his character in All My Children. He is a nice looking guy and I am sure he is capable of characters with depth. Popcorn all around here. It will help to keep you entertained.

PLEASE - no more of these

All I can say is this is dumb, dumb, dumb.

I was one of the gullible who wasted two hours of my life watching this move.

The plot has so many holes, it would seem to be written as a class project in a 3rd grade class.

The acting is mundane.

I laughed at how simplistic this whole thing was.

I watch Hallmark quite a bit and this is the very worst "movie" (if you can call it that without laughing) that they have ever aired.

If I ever see the group in My Gal Sunday come back as another lame movie, or heaven forbid as a series, I will avoid it at all costs.

Completely unbelievable and sophomoric.

What in the world was Hallmark thinking when they televised this?

Hallmark's always known for movies that stretch plausibility, but...

Warning: Spoilers
This one really took it to the nth degree.

Just finished watching it and from the moment the movie started, I was rolling my eyes.

First, there's a convicted prisoner being brought to a private home by a prosecutor.

Then there's the main character being shot in front of his own father and the father not only doesn't react and go to his shot son, but when the son goes to the hospital in an ambulance, dad simply turns to another guest and says, "Whipped cream?"

Apparently, this kind of stuff happens around him so much it's a bit of a yawn...

Mary Higgins Clark is one of the premier mystery writers of the 20th Century and this book could have been adapted to a movie so much more better than it was.

I love Cameron Mathison
jewhitmer2526 August 2021
That being said, I did no love this movie. I wanted to because I think Cameron Mathison is an incredible actor.

But the storyline was weak, jumping from past to present was confusing and disturbing. And the movie was just dumb.

Cameron Mathison deserves much better material.

Shame on you Hallmark for wasting this outstanding actor on this terrible movie.

My advice - find a better way to pass the next 2 hours.

Oscar material?
cayenne-9976628 July 2020
OMG! I can't believe this movie didn't cost me an arm an a leg to watch! The writing, acting, and the incredibly 'who done it' plot was an impeccably crafted piece of creative writing! Of course, and I do mean, OF COURSE all the above was a bald-face lie!

This cinematic exercise in flusing movie production money down the toilet places second to the waste I felt watching the cast miserably attempt some assemblage of believability but falling short in EVERY scene. Hallmark should be ashamed!! This movie had all the makings of a Saturday morning teenager crime drama; however, I really don't mean to undercut the enjoyment factor of Nancy Drew by suggesting this movie deserves to be associated with such quality company because, well, it doesn't - not even remotely!!

Oscar? In their dreams!
