The film was originally going to end with Scrat fighting aliens (who resemble Scratte from the third film) for the acorn. It was possibly cut for time constraints, and replaced with the much shorter scene with Scrat ramming the ship into Mars, making it uninhabitable. The scenes with him fighting the aliens was included on the DVD, as a bonus feature.
The drawing of Sid (John Leguizamo) that Sid gave Brooke (Jessie J) is the same drawing that he draws on the wall in the first film.
Not counting spin-offs, this film makes Ice Age the first ever computer animated theatrical film franchise to feature five installments.
This is the longest movie in the franchise.
Sid speaks without a lisp for the first time in one of the scenes.
The film was originally scheduled for a July 15, 2016. However, the release was delayed to July 22, to avoid competition with Ghostbusters (2016). Ultimately, both films underperformed at the box office.
