The clamor has begun. As many as four films are releasing this Friday and interestingly, each of these belongs to a different genre. ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ is a romantic comedy with a twist. ‘Heartless’ is a romantic drama. ‘Babloo Happy Hai’ is a buddy comedy while ‘Ya Rab’ is a social thriller.
Amongst these four films, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ would be seeing the widest release, what with Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap joining hands. The film has been promoted quite well while the premise is looking interesting too. Seeing a decent mid-sized release for itself, the Sidharth Malhotra-Parineeti Chopra starrer should enjoy an opening around the 50% mark and then see youth stepping in greater numbers, if the word of mouth is good.
‘Heartless’ is the comeback affair for Adhyayan Suman and has enjoyed decent promotion too. It boasts of some good songs, something that has been the case with Adhyayan right through (Haal-e-Dil,...

National award-winning filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda is in shock over the liberal attitude of the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc). He had gone for a certification for a censor certificate for his new film Babloo Happy Hai with much trepidation. "My film is about the casual attitude today's youngsters have towards pre-marital sex. Both my earlier feature films I Am Kalam and Jalpari have featured children as protagonists. This is the first time I've gone into adult territory. I thought the censor board would go over-board cutting the scenes and dialogues where sex is discussed explicitly. I thought they'd treat my film like Grand Masti. To my surprise they agreed to give me a UA certificate. The censor board felt youngsters under the age of consent should also know about the pitfalls of pre-marital sex. " It seems it isn't only Panda who earlier made children's films, who has grown up.

Film: "Babloo Happy Hai"; Cast: Sahil Anand, Erica Fernandes; Director: Nila Madhab Panda; Rating: ****
First, a question for the director: Why on earth has he given such a moronic robotic title to a film that informs, entertains and engages our attention? In short "Babloo Happy Hai" does everything cinema is meant to. And it does so with a transparency and sincerity that leave us...well, not quite enchanted, but decidedly involved with the lives of characters who seem to drift in and out of a haze of self-indulgence until their lives come to a stuttering halt.
There is a soulful fluidity to the narration even when the characters seem to be moving aimlessly through a series of misadventures designed to make them look prettier.
