Bonkers. Lots of fun though.

When out walking Lady Felicia has a man in hospital gowns collapse at her feet. As Felix Underwood is about to be laid to rest he's heard banging from inside his coffin. Underwood had been treated at a local psychiatric hospital, but when access to records and patients proves impossible, Father Brown has only one option, to enter as a patient.

Inspector Sullivan's first case as the new chief sees him clash with the Father on many occasions. This would become common place.

Some wonderfully humorous moments from Mark Williams, but his performance here is so good, he's excellent throughout. Tom Chambers made a great start as Inspector Sullivan. I loved the double act of Doctor Henshaw and Nurse Farrow, they make such a nasty duo. An intriguing storyline, with some super dark moments.

Lots of fun, 7/10

The concept of this one is completely alien to the usual Father Brown style, and while not my favourite episode I did enjoy it. I do love how just as Father Brown had become possibly friendly with the Inspector he went to London and Inspector Sullivan has become just as strongly against Brown's meddling than the original Inspector ever was.

Warning: Spoilers
Here Father Brown really tries to act as the maddest of all in an institution that is unfortunately run by a man man that reminded me of experiments run by the bad guys in world war 2 and also the Tuskegee study.

The part where Father Brown was strapped in for the psychedelic ride of his life was quite harrowing for daytime television, but all credit to the production crew for their authenticity.

Anyway, I'm enjoying catching up on the early episodes of Father Brown, although it's a shame the Polish housekeeper left without any explanation. Sid doesn't even make a passing reference to her. Very strange really.

Newly arrived Inspector Sullivan has a murder victim that literally falls under his feet as Felix Underwood returns to the village from a psychiatric retreat wearing just a hospital gown.

Just before he collapses he says murder to the Inspector. Father Brown arrives to give prayers and Inspector Sullivan finds out first hand that he really likes to interfere. Things take a twist when during the funeral service the corpse comes back to life, it looks like the coroner misdiagnosed the victim as he was drunk at the time.

Father Brown believes the answers lies at the psychiatric hospital that is carrying out new techniques to patients. In order to find out more Father Brown goes mad in order to be admitted as a patient.

A preposterous but also a fun and entertaining episode.

Poor episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is like a spoof mix of Cuckoos Nest and Shutter island. Both of which are excellent on their own.

Father Brown is like a caricature and some of the acting of the lesser characters is barely adequate.

Onwards and hopefully upwards.
