Various well-dressed people travel the Champs Elyssees in Paris away from the Luxor Obelisk (that's the French equivalent of Central Park's Cleopatra's Needle, am antiquity gifted by the Viceroy of Egypt to the two cities). Some are in carriages, and one fellow walks. On the right side of the screen traffic can be seen going the other way.
I suppose they are coming from the Place De La Concorde, but it's not absolutely clear, just like the period in the title; I suspect the latter is a typographical error. Like most of the Lumiere movies shot in France, it is well composed, with good lines of movements.
