It isn't a documentary
purfett30 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It isn't a documentary about Ethiopian war. In fact it is one hour and a half long filming about an Italian mayor who has built a memorial in honor of the lead commander of Italian Forces in Ethiopia Rodolfo Graziani in 200x (with public funding). Since this is the only fact we are informed in the movie, the movie is of course very boring. Because there isn't so much to say about such an event, except maybe a careful analysis of the social/administrative problems that allowed something like this to happen and a proper condemnation of it, that anyway the movie lacks. There are AT LEAST 30 minutes of natural landscape and people driving. Further, NO NATURAL BORN ETHIOPIANS ARE INTERVIEWED, which is absurd, considering this "documentary" pretends to talk about a WAR. The other "characters" (lol documentary) are an Ethiopian immigrate in Italy, an Italian immigrate in Ethiopia, an historian closed in state archive and two completely unrelated couple of Italian/Ethiopian living in America. This production can't absolutely classify as a documentary. It's more about shooting good photography and the use of filming techniques to emphasize messages, the EXACT OPPOSITE of a documentary.
