I'll say this for Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort they do give you the most unvarnished John Hagee style view of Christianity out there with this little cartoon. It's essentially the same message that you can get on their Way Of The Master TV series.
Kirk voices Mr. Average Guy no better no worse than the majority of us who are slogging our way through life. But it seems as though God's made some impossible rules to follow. We learn that Mr. Average is a thief because he stole some candy as a little kid. Puts him right in there with someone like Willie Sutton who stole for a living. Or because he was checking out some curvaceous beauty he lusted in his heart and therefore committed adultery. Puts him right in there with porn stars. And we didn't even get to same sex kind of lust.
But if you acknowledge that you're a bum and accept that Jesus was the one and only perfect one and he died for you than you've got your ticket punched already to heaven. At least that's how I understand it. And no other religion whatsoever, no other kind of Christianity will do it for you.
This is why evangelical Christianity is in such disrepute today. What makes this any different than the Taliban and their view Islam? I remember when Cameron converted to Christianity during his first year on Growing Pains and the stories of the demands he made on his producers at ABC. I recall a story where one of them asked why he couldn't an ordinary teenage bubblegum pinup with some drug problems.
If you like the Get with the Program or else approach to Christianity than this is your kind of film. I fear it's not going to make too many converts.
