Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this one. Typically, these movies are filled with unnecessary, endless build up to a lazy ending. However, in my opinion, this movie balanced out pretty well. I loved the concept and was engaged from beginning to the end. Actors were pretty good. I'd put this above the typical d and c rated and give it a solid B+ - lol.

Marriage and Movie Unravel
wes-connors23 April 2015
Frowzy, pill-popping photographer Sonya Walger (as Kate) reveals some startling news. She has an identical twin sister, living in Buffalo. The girls were separated at birth, as part of a research project. Arriving on the scene looking chicer and sexier, "Linda" (also played by Sonya Walger) wants to meet her twin and begin a familial relationship. After they meet, "Kate" says she gets a bad feeling from "Linda" and decides she wants nothing more to do with the woman. But "Linda" won't give up. She contacts her sister's handsome defense attorney husband Ben Bass (as Jack McLennan) and begs for a second chance...

If you're guessing an identical twin of his wife, who attempts to look attractive, arouses Mr. Bass, you're on track. We learn frumpy wife "Kate" has issues with depression, also...

The situation in "The Good Sister" eventually becomes too dumb to recommend it highly. However, it could knock your socks off if you're not expecting too much. It begins as an intriguing idea, written by Pablo F. Fenjves and directed by Philippe Gagnon. The latter works well with Walger and Bass, as we decipher their marriage unraveling. In reality, the marriage has already begun to unravel, and the co-stars are good at conveying this without obvious exposition. In capable hands, Mr. Fenjves' characters start out flawed and believable. Unfortunately, "The Good Sister" turns into a silly and predictable fantasy.

"How Do We Believe the People We Are?"
lavatch26 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There have been two intriguing titles to this well-made film. One is "Her Evil Twin" and the other is "The Good Sister." As the film unfolds, a burning question is who is the evil twin, and who is the good sister? It takes the entire ninety minutes of the film to answer those questions.

The man in the middle of the twins is Jack McLennon, a dynamic defense attorney who has won an acquittal in a high profile case. His client is a thug named Anton Mankovic, and his star witness on which the case turned was obtained by Jack through questionable practices.

But it is on the home front, not in the courtroom, that Jack's fate will be determined. At the start, Jack seems determined to preserve his marriage to Kate, who is fighting depression. The marriage took a hit when Jack had a brief affair with his legal secretary Cassie. Now, Kate learns that she has a twin sister. The girls were separated at birth and apparently grew up separately never knowing until now that they had a twin sibling.

Jack begins with respecting his wife's wishes that she does not want to pursue a relationship with her twin after an initial meeting. But when pressured by the twin Linda, Jack caves in and starts a tawdry relationship with her. Linda seems to possess te self-confidence, energy, and vivacity missing in Kate. But by continuing the relationship with Linda, Jack is digging himself deeper and deeper in the muck.

Kate seems to have an uncanny intuitive sense about when Jack is fibbing to her, which occurs a lot. At one point, the philosophical question is raised: "How Do We Believe the People We Are?" The matter of how deeply we really know another individual and how we even know ourselves was at the heart of the drama.

The filmmakers devised a slick screenplay, a terrific set of locations, great camera angles, and an interesting set of secondary characters. Jack's secretary Cassie figured prominently in his unraveling. The actress playing the twins was remarkable in evoking two distinct characters.

A bombshell twist was reserved for the end, which may have raised some questions about logic, but nonetheless delivered a knockout blow to audience expectations in this well-crafted thriller.

Another good one

Warning: Spoilers
I think this was another good movie that Lifetime aired. It wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on at a certain point, but that didn't bother me.

What bothered me was that the couple in the movie was absolutely miserable, and they seemed willing to stay that way. The husband had ulterior motives, based on his career plans, but there was no valid reason for the wife to live the way she was.

I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say that better choices could have been made on both their parts. If she couldn't get over their rocky past, she should have left.

Great movie - Ben Bass is great in this...
jordan2051 February 2015
I really loved this movie. It has just about everything in it and it was believable. BEN BASS did an awesome job as the husband. His actions as the calm, controlled man and then the worried, stressed person who gets involved with the sister was seamless. I hope to see him in more movies. I watch him all the time in Rookie Blue and he is fantastic in that show. The woman who played his wife and her sister was good also. Lots of suspense and surprises made the movie also. This could be a real life situation too. Lots of women get depressed and act out things about their lives. A husband in this situation would also be tempted under the circumstances. Considering that her sister looked just like her but different was actually a compliment to her. Don't know why she wanted to create a situation where he husband strayed. Maybe it was her illness, insecurity or just meanness. Great movie!

Wonderful screenplay from book
sjanders-8643010 March 2021
Sonja Walger and Ben Bass are married. Sonja is depressed but her medications are making her dizzy, and she stops taking them. Bass has had an affair with an office employee where he is on track to make partner. He has worked his way up the hard way and wants that partnership. A letter arrives stating that Sonja has a twin sister who was separated in an identical twin study. The twin is contacted and an appointment at the office is set up. Sonja backs out but Linda arrives and flirts with Bass. Sonja doesn't show up. From there the plot takes off and never lets up until the final scene. I want to read this book. It must be a great read. This film never missed a beat. A must see.

Loved it!

I was not expecting much from this movie as it appeared low budget and I did not recognise any actresses/actors. It seemed a bit clunky at the start but I soon became enthralled by the storyline. There were fantastic twists and I look forward to watching this movie again and sharing with others that like thrillers/dramas.

Wow, just wow!

This is an amazing movie! I loved every minute of it. I really did not expect it to end like that, I just did not see it coming. It has been a while since I've seen a movie as intriguing as this one.

Love watching Ben, he's the reason I've decided to see this, but Sonya Walger gave such an amazing performance in this movie. They are of course both great actors, the movie has such a riveting story and the ending is totally unpredictable and surprising. All I could say at the end was wow, just wow!

Make sure you watch this one, you won't regret it.

I highly recommend this movie to all the thriller enthusiasts.

Wow! This movie is one of the BEST movies i have actually seen in a while! I was enticed from beginning to end and i NEVER seen the ending coming the way it did, but then it actually all made sense! Just FYI, please not even read reviews or anything before watching a movie and just learn to watch things with an open mind! Ull be more surprised and more intrigued from actually NOT knowing whats going to happen and ull have something to actually look forward to.
