Dr Nell Greenwood.
Dr Nell Greenwood has been appointed the CEO of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (Aftrs), succeeding Neil Peplow who left the school mid-last year.
Over the past 12 years, Greenwood has worked at Aftrs in various roles, including lecturer, head of screenwriting, course leader Masters and head of programs, and, most recently, director of curriculum and student registrar.
As a screenwriter, Greenwood’s credits include the AFI Award winning False Witness, as well as Pride and Joy, which was nominated for Best TV Film at the 46th Monte Carlo TV Film Festival. She has also worked as head of development for the Irish Film Board, as well as production companies Natural Nylon Entertainment and Element Films. Greenwood holds a PhD from The University of Sydney on creativity and the unconscious in the screen arts classroom.

Seven projects will take part in WiP, and three more titles have been added to CineLink line-up
The Sarajevo Film Festival has announced seven projects from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Israel, Kazakhstan, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia that have been picked to take part in his year’s CineLink Work in Progress sessions.
CineLink’s Work in Progress sessions (Aug 20-21) present promising films currently in post-production to specially invited decision-makers from the European film industry, interested in engaging in their completion or distribution.
The line-up consists of six fiction projects, including new films by Romania’s Tudor Giurgiu (Of Snails And Men), Kazakhstan’s Emir Baigazin (Harmony Lessons), Slovenia’s Vlado Škafar (Dad), and the new documentary by Serbia’s Mila Turajlić (Cinema Komunisto), selected from the festival’s documentary workshop Docu Rough Cut Boutique.

Georgia was the big winner at the 18th edition of the Sofia International Film Festival (Siff) which closed at the weekend with the Grand Prix for Best Film and Best Director award going to Levan Koguashvili’s second feature Blind Dates.
The melancholic comedy, which premiered at the Berlinale’s Forum last month, also received the Fipresci International Film Critics’ Prize. Handled internationally by Films Boutique, it is already booked to screen at the April festivals in Wiesbaden (goEast) and Lecce and in Odessa in July.
Presenting the Grand Prix to Koguashvili, the International Jury’s president producer Alexander Rodnyansky said that the jury’s discussion on the top prize had ¨lasted only about 10 minutes and was unanimous. This film has become the absolute winner of this festival!¨
In addition, Vladimer Katcharava of Tbilisi-based 20 Steps Production received the Sofia Meetings’ €10,000 Digimage - Lvt Postproduction Award for Miriam Khachvani’s Dede which he pitched in the Plus Minus...
