All Is NOT Well!
jmoneyjohal21 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
All Is Well is a film I actual really tried to like, I am mean even as I write this review I am trying to think of the films best parts but there were not many, the film was just plain boring. I usual lap Bollywood melodrama, if done well a good melodrama that talks about family, parents etc leaves tear is your eyes. All Is Well however doesn't have the emotional connect at all, the story seems half balked, and even if your going down the clichéd, predictable story route it has to be done well. All Is well fails on that accord too, what we are left with in the film is a few laughs here and there.

The films story is about man named Inder who lives in Bangkok and is trying to become a famous singer, but he is struggling to do so. When we get to know his back story we find out he left his house in India 10 years ago because he couldn't stand his dad, who was a failed bakery owner, and wanted him to join his business. He grew up watching his father fight with his mom, and struggle to make ends meet. Inder therefore has a lot of hatred for him. Seeing his parents failed marriage Inder also does not believe in getting married, therefore leaving his girlfriend Nimmi hopeless and forced too get arranged marriage back in India. However things take a U-turn when Inder is conned to go back to India, and finds out his dad has a 20 lakh loan to payoff. His father is hell bent in not selling his bakery to payoff the money, and Inder is now stuck in India, having to pay off his father loan some how. They then after eluding the loan shark Cheema, go on a road trip with his mother who now has Dementia and his girlfriend. The road trip is taken to get his moms Gold Jewelry, from his Uncle who she left the Jewelry with so they can payoff the loan. Thats the films main crux, and to find out more rush to theatres.

Acting wise Abhisek Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor lead the pack and are good in there roles. Asin, and Supriya Pathak have half baked roles. But it is Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub who steals the show, his scenes make you laugh, he is fantastic.

Coming from the man who made OMG one of the best Bollywood films in recent times I excepted more from Umesh Shukla, looks like he is back to the Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge days, his film looks like a small budget dated film. And whats with AB Jr's changing looks?

Overall AIS is more of DVD watch, I mean other then Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub comic act, and couple of other comic sequences, there is nothing much to see in the film. Its highly predictable, and clichéd, and the emotional scenes fall flat. All is not well!

All Is Well- But Not For The Audience Of This One
bollywoodirect22 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is an ad for the book Secrets masquerading as a movie

It's also silly, maudlin, reliant on slapstick and ludicrousness and has one of the worst soundtracks in recent memory

Abhishek returns home from Bangkok after ten years to find his dictatorial, stingy father, Rishi Kapoor, deep in debt to the local toughie, Zeeshan Ayub, and his mother, Supriya Pathak, suffering from Alzheimers. Salvation could lie in some jewelry, left in the safe- keeping of his mother's brother. Or the sale of his Dad's bakery – which the Dad is fundamentally against. Thus begins a ridiculous, hare-brained 'adventure', which also involves Asin (who reads Secrets everyday), and is about to go in for an arranged marriage, but wants to get married to Abhishek, only he is too grumpy / anti-marriage (having seen his parents loveless one) to do so…

Along the way, the father-son bicker and try to resolve their issues, the toughie's gang stumble and fumble their way around, stupid caricatures of Punjabi families abound, while Asin gives lovelorn looks and sheds silent tears.

The performances are average – the only one who impresses is Zeeshan – and the music is downright terrible. The second half, towards the end, improves a bit and does make a few valid points but it's lost in the midst of the overall silliness.

This is definitely a film that is the complete antithesis of its title…

Four Idiots. ♦ Grade F
nairtejas23 August 2015
I am going to describe the four main characters of the film; it will be enough for you to decide if you should watch this utter fail at filmmaking.

Junior Bachchan plays an arrogant son of a Punjabi sweet-maker who is now living in Bangkok after having run away from his house as a teenager on account of his father's abusive nature. Comparing his expressions to that of a wood would be an insult to the latter as he goes about ignoring the umpteen requests made by his presumed spiritual girlfriend who is desperate to marry and get laid. Playing his on-screen father is the talented Rishi Kapoor who unanimously wins the competition among the cast for overacting. Supriya Pathak makes being a mental patient look like the seven tests of hell. Last but not the least, Asin's Air India flight from Mumbai (and Bollywood) leaves this week.

Within the first ten minutes one learns how laziness played a significant role in the making of the film. Who else would play an emotional song in between sequences where the characters are delivering dialogs important to the plot? There's only one thing that you would do after watching the film and that is feeling bad for the actors.

BOTTOM LINE: All Is Well is a brilliant lesson in how to not make a film.

GRADE: F

VERDICT: Skip for life.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Pathetic
siddhartha198422 August 2015
Simply awful. That's the correct word I have for this movie.Terrible direction and terrible script.Disgusting Cinematography. If you have excess time utilize it but don't go this movie or never watch it even on piracy. The junior Big B should rethink why he is continuing acting and selecting this kind of movie. The heroine is in this movie but for what reason she knows! The only reason I have given it one is for two reason!

1) The utilization of the original score from 90's was pathetic but you will feel nostalgic. 2) Rishi Kapoor tries to give the movie a shape.

So my advice don't go and don't let anyone go! Please visit We love to share movie group in Facebook for more reviews.

Mindlessness
rickin-shah21 September 2015
To write about this movie, I had to google for a word that is opposite of creativity. I stumbled upon "mindlessness" and thats the apt word for this movie. I seriously wonder how such movies can be conceived, financed and produced. Scenes that appear or try to be funny have been ridiculous and seem to annoy more than entertain. I thanked that I did not spend watching it in cinema and watched it on TV, I only wished I had ability to fast forward it. Watch this movie if you are seriously running out films to watch and suggest keeping some paracetamol within close proximity. 1 star for its music but the movie is worth negative stars !

I don't know how it got 3.9 rating, it deserve not a single one.
rahimnagori19 September 2015
Trust me nobody wants or like a rockstar like Abhishek. This movie is not a worth penny. Asin is worst too. Looks like director has gone mad. I would like to suggest all the director not to direct a movie like this and producer to not to produce a movie like this. Plot is missing and the story is somehow copied from Tushar Kapoor and Isha Deol starrer an old movie. Seriously Abhishek can't act in any movie. The concept / logic used are not satisfying the need. There is no comedy at all. Abhishek neither has a good physic nor a good acting. He is worth of nothing. Sr. Bachchan sir, Abhishek is ruining your name. Please tell him to do some business or something. Acting is not his cup of tea.

All is well -- That's what the team thought
darshancruz29 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Let me save your 2 hours by writing this review with all spoilers.

'All is well' is about a son helping his father to sort some money related matters. He is disconnected from the family staying abroad. On receiving a call from the talented Mohd Zeeshan that he has to claim some money , he comes to India. On arrival, he comes to know he has to give the money to the goon to save his fathers bakery. From the time it starts till the very end, there isn't a funny scene and we just wait for the long 2+ hrs to get over. The goon is neither funny nor scary but irritating. 'Chaar Shanivaar' will add a track to the party- goers list.

In terms of acting -- Asin acts dumb throughout, Mohd Zeeshan disappoints after some good previous roles, Ratna Pathak who delivered a great role in Ramleela is reduced to 2 lines here, Rishi Kapoor repeats an ABs Piku kinda role, Abhishek is stern throughout, he feels carrying one expression will make him sail through a movie .

Overall, all is NOT well about this movie !.

A Passable Fare!
namashi_121 August 2015
Umesh Shukla's 'All Is Well' is a lighthearted family-comedy, with a few entertaining moments, that leave a mark. However, the writing isn't always funny & lags at times.

'All Is Well' Synopsis: An estranged son, Inder (Abhishek Bachchan) returns home to help his father (Rishi Kapoor), who's in debt. But that's not all, Inder's mother has Alzheimer's & his lady-love tags along with him. Chaos follows...

'All Is Well' is passable entertainment. It has some inspiring moments, that provide laughter. The first-hour is breezy & some of the comedic portions work nicely. Its the second-hour, that dips considerably. The humour wears out & the father-son conflict doesn't engage after a point. Even the climax looks hurried. In short, the first-hour is decent, but the second-hour doesn't really work. Sumit Arora & Niren Bhatt's Screenplay is a mixed bag. It begins well & is also funny, but post-interval, it loses pace. Sharper Writing was the need of the day! Umesh Shukla's Direction is ordinary. Sameer Arya's Cinematography is eye-filling. Editing isn't crisp. Music by Various Artists is energetic.

Performance-Wise: Abhishek Bachchan does a fine job. He enacts his part sincerely. Rishi Kapoor is loud, but that's the demand of the character. Asin is limited to a few expressions. The Wonderful Supriya Pathak is wasted in an insignificant role. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is first-rate. The talented actor plays the bumbling villain with terrific timing. Jameel Khan is adequate. Sonakshi Sinha sizzles in an item number.

On the whole, 'All Is Well' works in parts. At best, a one-time watch!

Post a 100 minutes awful show, it tries hard to teach some family values in vain.
bobbysing2 August 2016
Many a times, it's just the opening 10 minutes of a film and one clearly gets the idea about how tough the next two hours are going to be sitting in the theatre. Still the hope refuses to die and the viewers seriously keep waiting for something better to be there soon in the remaining time.

Unfortunately this hope doesn't work in case of ALL IS WELL, since the film neither delivers in the beginning, nor has something entertaining to offer in the mid as well as the end, surprisingly coming from the director of widely acclaimed, meaningful venture OH MY GOD. In fact one repeatedly remembers the title of his last film in the literal sense (with an exclamation mark) watching even an actor like Rishi Kapoor hamming on the screen due to many poorly written sequences with lots of weird dialogues.

To be specific, the very first thing that causes the big disappointment is the faulty use of Punjabi language and many characters in the script speaking with an awfully artificial Punjabi accent not suiting just anybody. Moreover this is again a comic project from few of those 'extremely creative minds' who still consider Punjabis as only funny people knowing nothing other than laughing, eating and dancing. Secondly the father, mother, son and even the girlfriend turn out to be 'a bunch of people' far away from reality making no connection whatsoever with the viewers. And thirdly its the wrong casting of Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub as the fumbling don who miserably fails in his sincere attempt to somehow keep it 'hilarious' right till his final scene.

In actual terms, it's the inferior writing, flat jokes, poor one- liners, hamming acts and unentertaining execution with nothing engaging happening throughout its two hours of duration that work as the main culprits here. Plus the below average soundtrack and a feeble try to cover more than one genres further damage the film brutally right from the word 'go'.

For instance it begins focusing on a struggler musician (with a disturbed childhood) looking for a brake, who doesn't believe in the institution of marriage and then goes on to become a crude chase comedy, a road movie, a love-marriage saga and a family drama altogether giving an important social message in its concluding scenes. But above all it's the badly written script that simply doesn't let the film convey anything before or after the intermission apart from few emotional sequences in its climax that unfortunately appear when the game has already been lost. Umesh Shukla, the director of OMG is nowhere visible in the entire film and it's a pity to see actors such as Rishi Kapoor, Supriya Pathak and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub coming up with all mediocre performances due to the reckless writing. Asin remains completely wasted in a silly role and Sonakshi once again proves her 'repetitive talent' in a forcibly inserted item number that's good for nothing.

A routine camera-work, unnoticeable background score, shabby art direction and below average soundtrack become the other weak departments of ALL IS WELL. Plus the makers also dare to recreate the soothing love song 'Aye Mere Humsafar' from QSQT that actually doesn't even deserve a mention here. But at the same time, I wonder why QSQT has suddenly become the hot-favourite, as one of its song was recently also used in the much appreciated MASAAN.

Coming to the lead star of the film Abhishek Bachchan, the actor always tries to perform in a decent manner to the best of his ability as per the given role. But honestly ALL IS WELL once again makes me think that, Why many of the awful films always manage to fall in the lap of Abhishek Bachchan only repeatedly?

May be its because of his choice of roles or the luck factor refusing to favour since long, Abhishek certainly needs to find his lost form at the earliest, living to the reputation once formed with YUVA and GURU.

In all, after some terribly unbearable 100 minutes, ALL IS WELL faintly manages to convey a valuable message in its climax reminding everyone to essentially take good care of their ageing parents providing them all the love and warmth in their final decades when they actually need it the most.

However, despite the precious message, I still cannot recommend this mess unexpectedly created by the man behind OH MY GOD.

A light hearted Family Drama
ankurlkw21 August 2015
All is Well is a light hearted movie. Its a good effort which could have been made better.

It doesn't have the melodrama which we can see in recent movies like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Brothers, where people cry for no reason just to catch attention.

The comedy sequences in the movie are really funny. The movie tries to address the problems and conflicts within the families.

Acting wise all the characters do a decent job. Music is not that good but thankfully there aren't too many songs. Sonakshi Sinha sizzles in her guest appearance.

Its a one time watch.

Decent fare
rajmannar-0823013 June 2016
It is a pleasant relaxed watch. No violence or sleaze. It was nice to watch Rishi Kapoor in a major role pitted against his "screen" son enacted by Abhishek. There is a nice base of melodrama, good chunk of roadie (on the road), dash of romance, some comic villains in the story. The guy who acted in the role of the loan shark along with his sidekicks were hilarious, without being over the top. Asin plays a good foil. Overall, decent fare. Nothing spectacular, but worth a watch when you don't want to tax yourself much. There were other reviews which seemed overtly critical. Frankly it was not bad at all. It is a good family movie.

Nice Family Entertainment Movie.

In today's fast paced society, money has become the ultimate God & made Man mad, every one is just running to make maximum numbers for one- self, everywhere only personal ego & selfishness exist, even family relationship & values are lost...the movie brings an good message to society for realization of family values & responsibilities, with strong emotional connect between both Child & Parents ambitions. True happiness lies in rewarding relationships, that is real wealth, not flashy money possessions...

Go watch the Movie with your Family...
